It gets better in my opinion. Unlike the books which got me hooked right from the first book. Series only because I knew how awesome it would become hehe.

 

You're right, it isn't finished. So far there are 5 books.

I really hope that he manages to finish the series at some point.. haha.

 

Not only at some point but fast Ah well, I'm all good now but was really annoyed when I finished the last book so far... another fantasy series with a great story but no end in sight.

 

The girl with the dragon tattoo is a great series. (aka The Millennium series)

Cool story behind the author, he writes the 3 books sends them to a publisher and blows his brains out.

And about the teacher thing, from what I see them do it looks fairly easy compared to a lot of other jobs. The only difficult things they do in their job is coming up with lesson plans and marking work. Yet 90% of the teachers simply get a lesson plan offline (I can pretty much find all of my assignments online with answer keys) and 90% of the teachers make us mark our own work. Then in class all the teachers do are press play on a movie, or assign some random pages to read out of our text book followed by a bunch of questions.

Maybe my schools just shit, maybe just my teachers are like this (all but 1, I got one pretty cool teacher)

 

yeah, i'm hoping he doesn't pull a robert jordan and die on us. but brandon sanderson is finishing the wheel of time series for him, and i think he's a much better writer, so maybe it was for the best haha.

I know there are many shitty teachers. I can't say it naturally made me respect the good ones more when I was in (our equivalent of) highschool It took me an internship as a history teacher to found out these people are expected to do much under often shitty conditions. This is not the case at every school of course, I'm generalizing. But it sounds like you are at such a school as well How many students are there in one class? If there are more than 20 unmotivated kids I can assure you a teacher needs more then just good teaching skills.

 

i would assume though, but i don't really know for sure. it basically just loads the text and people's avatars, and will do thumbnails of photos and not load the whole thing unless you click on it. probably uses less.

 

Pulling a robert jordan I heard this from my friend who I forced to read Games of thrones. I might finish them after all! Problem with Wheel of time was indeed that it began to drag on from let's say book 6 but I heard the last book(s) are much better.

 

yeah they're way better. even if you just skip the rest of the robert jordan ones and go right to the brandon sanderson books, i'm sure you'll figure it out. or if you do read them all, just read the chapters about mat and rand... perrin is annoying as hell.

brandon sanderson's stuff is pretty good as well. i liked the mistborn trilogy.

 

Wheel of time has since long left my favourite list in the fantasy genre. There are some really cool series out there! I prefer those without a clear good vs. bad scenario although you can't fuck with Tolkien of course.

Anybody ever watch Akira? It's a badass anime movie.

 

This is a good trilogy to start with. The good news is there is no need for depression when you finished it, cause it is followed by two other trilogy's :biggrin: But this one has a solid ending

i assume you mean fantasy? i'd suggest:

- song of ice and fire (aka game of thrones HBO show)
- wheel of time by robert jordan (being finished by brandon sanderson, as mentioned above)
- mistborn trilogy by brandon sanderson
- sword of truth series by terry goodkind was decent... a couple books that kind of sucked but i think that's pretty common in series with a ridiculous number of books

 

i got the first book of that series for my dad for christmas because i read some good reviews about it. i should borrow it from him haha

 

Before I read A song of ice and fire I thought I could never enjoy a fantasy series as much as the Farseer trilogy (and it's followers). I also really like the seemingly endless series of Katherine Kerr. Another favourite of mine for sure.

 

There's about 30-32 kids per class usually. Apparently there's a law of a maximum of 29 or something kids per class? Our teachers always complain about that, but all of our classes have over 29 anyways lol

And ah I should probably invest in getting tapatalk then
