Coming here, to hf - and especially the sl where people talk my "weather eyes" have been opened. I knew there were places a lot colder than the southern part of the US...but honestly I just had no idea how Very Cold it was other places and how long it stays cold with continued snow. I had never given it much thought.

I knew I wasn't particularly fond of HOT weather; but, I know I couldn't handle the kind of weather most of you folks (that post here in the sl) have to deal with!

WW, I forgot to answer you about the purple shamrocks. They can be hardy...but I found when I would transplant some to get a mound to grow where I wanted it to grow, they sometimes wouldn't want to cooperate. If I snipped off the stems (to about 1/2" to 1") they grow back pretty well. If they get leaf miners (which they do, just like nasturtiums tend to do) I just snip them down. After getting trimmed back the purple shamrocks tend to do better.

 

Unanakin, I hope your grandfather is doing better and everything turns out well for him. Since you are in the midst of helping him, I feel he will get the help he needs.

Getting medical help in the US sucks some bad balls.

At least Obama is trying/has tried to do something about it. Everybody is much more interested in demonizing him than in accepting we DO need some kind of system in place to take care of our sick.

YES!!! There was a video a few years ago where there was a woman in an ER somewhere (probably here in the east) in the great USofA that actually DIED in the floor, waiting for someone, ANYONE, to come and help. It showed hospital personnel walking around her. This was shown on TV.

There are LOTS of small and big businesses that are crying big frackin tears that they will have to offer their employees health insurance that the employees WILL STILL HAVE TO PAY...my employer informed me that Mickey D's "isn't going to offer insurance".

It is quite common to see a commercial on tv with some politician and business people whining about "Obama care", saying people will lose jobs, can't give raises to people, etc...BULLSHIT! They can just do what McD's is doing...don't offer it.

doctors are paid per visit per test per whatever ...

and have maximums and flat rate pays....

i guess its ok if you have a doctor that actually cares but most are just zombies doing the motions to get maximum pay
