There is a small percentage of checks here that also contribute to medicare...but not everyone can use this medicare. In fact, if you are drawing a pay check it is almost assured you do NOT get to draw medicare.

I don't know what it is you get when you retire here - medicare maybe. Then you get to use it...when you aren't paying in any more, just drawing that retirement check. I look dang forward to retiring. :2thumbsup:

I still owe my orthopaedist almost 2 grand for a few doctor visits and the operation 8/20/2012. I pay him some every month!

That reminds me...I've got to get a money order for his payment this month.

I agree with Aeri. Talk to a social worker. My dad (90) got a pacemaker November 2012. He was supposed to be there three days but because of complications he was there 8 days and the doctors sent him home to take care of himself. He lives alone. I was furious. The man could not even sit up on the side of the bed. A day and a half later he fell at home and had to call 911 and was back in the hospital. Finally they sent him to rehab where he stayed for 5 weeks. Even after that it was a slow recovery with in home rehab and nurse visits.

If your grandfather needs rehab make sure he gets rehab.

Hoping all goes well for you all.

At least y'all can get your teeth fixed. Even the employers that offer dental plans (few) they are not worth a shit and only cover check-ups and cleanings and stuff like that. Here it can cost 2-4 hundred dollars just to get a tooth pulled, let alone actually fixed :(

    Nope.
Dental isn't covered by health care.
It's why I haven't been to one in maybe six years.

    :coffee:

I think employers get out of paying for healthcare because they don't hire "full time" workers. 78 hour pay periods instead of 80 hours (Two week pay period is common) By doing this they also don't need to give breaks, deal with overtime pay, etc.

Basically more for the CEO and investors. fuck the workers, they can be replaced....

We have doctors to tell those people that they''re in trouble before the heart attack, which is why we have less mcdonalds addicts, I think.

Yup. They lobby against publicly funded healthcare because they don't want to pay more in taxes, but by not giving their lowest paid employees any sort of health insurance, they are basically forcing the government to subsidize them by paying for the emergency room bills that the people can't afford.

Universal health care would lower the cost for everyone in the US, except for the richest few and the biggest corporations. Therefore, it will not happen, unless there is some sort of cultural revolution.

dont need a doctor to tell you that stuff is no good but people still eat it, i get it though i could see myself as one of them. i honestly dont know what keeps me from having more big macs....bad example i know why i dont eat them...lets say whoppers.
i dont know why i dont eat more whoppers, they taste good they are relatively cheap i am not a health nut. im confused by my own behavior. i think its just because i also like fruits and vegetables so picking one over the other is easy. i guess if i was on the road more i would eat more unhealthy meat.
damn egg your making me get all serious i was in a joking mood when i started talking about your average doctors compared to our.....like you can compare a doctor to another. sure there is that whole thing where your doctors keep their patients alive longer but dont forget the ignorant bottom half dragging that average down.

my head hurts from to much thinking. remember when this was simple US good other country bad.

or the fancy version where you put in the mathematical symbols us > canadia

US fastfood pricing is a lot different in the US than it is here. In some parts it is so ridiculously cheaper to feed your family with fast food than a carrot. So in a lot of ways the US fastfood epidemic and poverty are very much tied together.

thinking about the healthcare bill and how it encourages employers to cut back a bit. that made me think of the GOP's favorite saying that a rising tide makes all boats float higher. (or whatever bullshit they always say)
so i am thinking that..(i hate using the same word twice in a row)..that works both ways. if you gave all the poor people money they would spend it on stuff that the rich people were selling and (all the boats would rise) but then again fox news showed me that poor people would waste their money on stuff like organic salmon so i guess its best to stick to the system we have rather than try trickle up economics. because the status quo trickle down has been working so well for the politicians thus far.
