I've seen the first video before, the guy does a good job explaining it.

Maybe get it through EI.
I dunno. It sounds like a good idea on paper but I'm not sure I'm in the right place to be learning let alone learning in the kind of atmosphere that goes a long with being in the garage with guys all day.

More like, I can't take another sexist, racist, homophobic workplace.

 

Then you'd best figure out how you're going to make a living working from home, because I don't think it is possible to completely avoid bigotry in a workplace.

edit: And once you figure it out, teach me how.

 

That's pretty much the conclusion I've come to.
I've given up on working with people.

 

bigotry should be met head on....no exceptions....I do it all the time

 

As do I...and then I get ostracized and bullied out of my job because I'm speaking out.
I've tried doing the 'deal with it on my own'. I'm a jerk that's in the minority.
I've tried talking to bosses. I'm a snitch.
I've tried ignoring it ...and that usually just ends up with a big pent up explosion of a confrontation because I actually find it impossible to ignore.

 

ya it doesn't always work.....for me its....you have a ''bad temper''....haha..

 

The nice weather brings out the optimist in me. I want to make a 'bucket list' type list for the summer. Things in the area that we keep saying we want to go see or do, but will probably not actually end up doing them unless we make a point of writing it down and planning.

On that note, does anyone have any suggestions for some cool things to do/see in Ontario? Northern Ontario is good, but I don't mind a bit of a drive. Even somewhere near here in Quebec would be cool.

Camping at Algonquin is first on the list.

I've thought about taking on-line bookkeeping courses and just trying to pick up bookkeeping work that I can do from home... but I'm still young and naive enough that I still think I can make a positive impact. It's my backup plan for about a decade from now when I give up.

 

We should all party at Rolling's this summer.
It's a seriously awesome place.

 

I keep forgetting about book keeping.
I'm pretty decent with numbers and spread sheets.

You my friend, have just given me a glimmer of hope.

 

There are lots of online courses available for it as well!

Athabasca offers an accounting certificate program, but they tend to be expensive. Best bet would be a college, I would think. You can probably also take high school accounting courses on the cheap if you haven't already taken them at some point.

My cousin does some basic bookkeeping stuff for my dad. My dad's business is in Ontario, but my cousin lives in Nova Scotia. Most invoices come electronically now anyway, so it is getting easier and easier to do stuff remotely.
