You may also want to go to the campus and check the ads for places. Might give you a lead on rentals. :)

a heating pad has its place, i dug mine out. but i find its a pain to keep it at the temperature i want, theres a whole lot of turning off and back on to get around the "safety" feature.

i actually got it for warming up the bottom of bowls in the kitchen, like melting chocolate and stuff. i prefer rice socks and the like. the heat penetrates deeper, and it feels almost moist, even when it isnt.

speaking of repurposing- my moms giving me a bunch of old clothes and fabric, so i will be making a bunch of new stuff. woo hoo :)

If i'm smart about it... I'm so bad with money, I'll have none for so long.. then soon as I get a bit all I can think about is all this stuff i wanna buy... Not this time!

Spent the day in London yesterday as it is only about 40 min travel from where Im staying. In about a week be heading down to Bristol to see other family and HOPEFULLY a couple friends I havent seen in 10 years! May even be picking up a little bit of hash which would be lovely as I havent smoked anything in over a month

welcome back. i've been loving me some hash lately. i've got about a half gram of this delicious bubble hash left.

we should know within the week whether or not my wife gets the job she just interviewed... we are both very optimistic, but trying not to get our hopes up... it pays very well, about the same amount as what we were making combined before she went to school lol.

told my mom about my plans to travel and stuff... she was surprisingly cool with it, she looked at me as if i was weird for wanting to do it, but still cool with it...

how would i cross the border though? I don't wanna walk across because i don't wanna get questioned to death, and have them tear apart all my bags and go through my laptop and all that shit... i've heard the horror stories of boarder patrol around here lol

And if I get a ride, and just lie saying "we're going to do some shopping"... then an hour later my ride comes back without me... that'd be suspicious...?

You will be able to buy in stores next year. As of now you need a medical card, but possession of an oz is legal for anyone 21 or over.

Ah, so do you have to be 21? I was hoping it'd be 18/19 whatever your smoking laws are...

if you don't have a job to come back to, they might hassle you and think you're trying to immigrate illegally. take a bus to seattle or something, make sure you know the address and phone number of the place you're going to stay at first, it will help them take you seriously.

A bus could work, but with a bus is it one of those 'weekend trip' kind of things where they expect you to be back on that same bus to go back to Canada? I don't want some man hunt on me when I don't show back up :D

I don't really plan on staying in any hotels though, going to bring a small sleeping bag, food/water, that way I can find some woods and crash anywhere, I've camped with just a sleeping bag before it can be fun. Also going to try out couchsurfing, hopefully find some places to get a good rest and shower along the way.

Yeah 21 is a high age. You can buy tobacco at 18, and join the army, but have to be 21 for alcohol.

But everyone has pot in Colorado, someone will help you out.

lol...Ortus, I've gotta say, or rather ask...you do know what century/year this is, right? :)

Perhaps you'll find the Land of Oz (and I don't mean Australia) when you cross that border. ;)

Age limits are the same everywhere. I don't know how easy it is to score in Washington, just Colorado.

Yup :D sometimes you gotta step out the box, and do stuff people just don't do anymore.

I can either sit here doing nothing, wasting my days away, or go out and see places i've always wanted to see and do things i've always wanted to do.

I've looked it up, once I get into seattle there's like 1 highway that will bring me all the way to california.. the rest i can plan later, sure i'll have to walk a bit of it, but people still hitchhike... I dunno if its common in the states, but i see a lot of hitchhikers here.. and there will always be somebody willing to pick you up, sure it might take a few hours, but there are always people out there :)

It's a journey... how many people can say they traveled across the country with next to no money and no car? I love to walk, love to be outside, love to travel... sounds perfect

Just tell them that you're travelling. It's not against the rules to go on vacation. Set up couchsurfers for the first few nights, bring along their names, addresses, phone numbers, tell them at the border that you're staying with friends.

Also, make sure to fill out your couchsurfing profile and out pictures up, pay the few bucks and get verified too - people will be way more likely to host you.

I really like you, Ortus...I just don't want you winding up on some psycho's grill. :)

I feel for your mama. ;)
