The thought of hitchhiking in the states is a lot more intimidating tbh... especially the thought of being stopped by cops, especially since I don't live in that country... From what I always hear cops generally sound a lot worse down there...

If I simply use the 'ignorance' excuse for anything would that be good or bad? Just like "Oh, i'm sorry officer I didn't even know, I'm from Canada" it could go either way... They could be like "oh cool, just don't let it happen again" or they take me back to their station and question me why i'm there and search all my stuff and then send me back to canada? I dunno...

Or should I not even bring up being Canadian? unless they ask where i'm from...

There's a guy at work that needs to wear a full burka.
He is too sexually distracting to work around.
It's becoming a problem for me.

It is true, many American cops are assholes, but there are a few nice ones sprinkled in there. It is likely if you are hitch hiking you will meet at least one cop who will bother you for a while. It could be considered illegal in many areas of the US, I don't know how it is in Canada. As long as they don't think you are high they will probably just tell you that you have to find some other way to travel, probably not arrest you. They would be able to harass you and charge you with more if you were driving a car.

Most of the USA does not have the attitude about weed that places like Washington or Canada do.So whenever dealing with cops keep that in mind. For example you can get a life sentence in Oklahoma for hash in some cases. But in some states even though it is illegal it is just a fine for possession.

Lil buddy, I personally don't think hitchhiking in the states...much less across the US would be a good idea at all.

2 big problems - the people that would want to "help you out"...might want to eat you, or worse! You cannot tell by "how they look"! Also, if you were to be on some lonely road, you might not have a choice as to if you wanted to go with them or not. Good-looking young fella (alone) like you would be some prime meat for some weirdo psycho...and they come in all flavors down here.
#2 - Although I can't speak for everywhere in the US, across the south...I can promise you, you would be hassled by the cops...beyond the shadow of a doubt.

Hitchhiking and having weed AND not even being from the US...unless you were in the few tolerant states, if "caught" with it...you might be in the US a lot longer than you think. Even if it is simple possession, for the vast majority of states, you would be jailed overnight...and then either put out BUCKS or you get 3 hots and a cot for a while.

Canada is huge...it would most certainly be much safer to cross it!

I dunno, I think people are generally good, of course there are a few crazies, but it's like that regardless of where you are in the world.

You can easily judge people or get some vibes from them before entering their vehicle, ask them where they're going and if you have even the slightest suspicions or that 'gut feeling' simply say nevermind, you're not wanting to go that way... Of course you can't be sure with everyone, but that's the fun in it! to take risks...

And cops aren't a huge concern for me, unless they have the ability to send me back to Canada, but I doubt it lol... I probably won't even have weed, I can't see how i'd be able to find any through most of the states... and even if i had some it'd be small amounts... I don't see why they'd harass me, or... how they could harass me that is, they can't really do anything if i do nothing wrong.. and I see nothing wrong with traveling the country. You just have to act like you're sorry and be nice to them to feed their egos :p

I would do this in Canada, but my thought was... Canada is a lot more spread out, and it's a little more rough, like getting through the rockies? I'm not certain, because I've never been to the US really, but I'm assuming due to the population that there are a ton more little towns and cities spread all over the US... whereas in Canada, its a lot easier to get stranded in the middle of nowhere, or be in a situation where I can't find anybody and am just lost...

I'm sure all would be fine, plus everyone used to laugh at me cause I 'sound american' anyways... all my pronunciation is american rather than canadian for some reason, the very few things we say differently... dunno why that is, guess i watched to much american tv growing up lol so.. if need be i could just say i'm american, that way people don't think i'm a naive canadian and try taking advantage

I've done my 'research'... lots of people do this, come to the US from different countries, or even lots of people that just live in the US, its not uncommon... And from everything I've read, I haven't heard a single horror story yet... (but maybe that's because they're all dead :D) but either way... I've yet to hear anything to bad about doing this, I think it just sounds fun... it would be quite the journey...

The possibility of a serial killer is always there. But you should not let that stop you from doing this. You could die going to the store.

ive never seen jobs that required pre-testing for drugs..lots require criminal record searches though

but lots of jobs warn you of mandatory tests if you have a workplace related accident ...like if youre a bus driver or heavy equipment operator and have a fender bender they can get you tested and fire you or lay charges if deemed impaired

I watch a show sometimes called four weddings and it is where four different women attend each others weddings and rate the three weddings they go to . The one with the highest score wins a honeymoon. It really upsets me when any of the women start putting down the others wedding because after all it is their wedding and no need to bash the wedding if they don't like it...or the dress or the food...out of the few times I watched there was only one show where none of women bashed the others wedding.....and I said to my daughter there was only one show where none of the women bashed the others wedding and she pointed out to me that was the episode they did in Canada .....
It was the most considerate episode.
