I know the ABCs and I used to know some basic things...enough to be able to communicate with someone. Actually I liked using sign lauguage. It's like a dance with your hands.

A deaf dude taught me a lot when I worked for Voc Rehab. He would come over and give me classes every day...it would get him out of whatever he was supposed to be doing and I liked taking a break from the bs and learning something fun.

 

lol...I walked today until I had to use my walking stick. This is a Big Stick to use for walking, almost as tall as me, that started life as a very straight and sturdy, but skinny, pine tree.

It has enough weight to it that I'm certain I could use it for self defense if I had to. :2thumbsup:

 

when I worked for UPS in the shipping warehouse... huge huge building one concrete floor.. everyone looks like a convict... I worked with 2 deaf people for awhile. they would always take turns talking telling stories then they look at me so they can read my lips, then keep on talking lol..

it was very cool. cause of the environment and the work and listening to someone talk about all kinds of shit and he cant even hear his voice.. fun times

 

no, and neither does my mom. we know the alphabet, and a couple random words. otherwise it's made-up. She's amazing at lip reading, and other times, at faking it. :love:

 

That's cool. Sometimes I can't understand what someone is saying if I can't see them...and if I can see someone sing a song, I can understand the words.

I've thought before I may unconsciously do a bit of lip reading.

 

that's the biggest thing for her. you have to look right at her or she's lost
but you can yell from three feet away and not get her attention. amazingly she's okay with a phone. just okay

i haven't watched the movie yet, but i really enjoyed the book. i've heard bad things about the movie, which is why i haven't given it a chance yet.

good morning... tyrson....didn't the new house already have a sidewalk?.....how big of a walkway was it?

 

The new place has a brick walkway to the front door... I'm going to expand on that and do some more in the back. Old sidewalk was about 100 feet by 4+ feet. We recovered most of that and brought it here... I also had a skid of brick pavers in the garage that I brought to the new place. It's all prime landscaping rock... would have cost an arm and a leg if I had gone out and bought new.

 

people buy those big chunks of limestone maybe 6' x 6' by 1 foot thick.....they pile them on the shoreline ....ive seen them stacked like pancakes to make a stone dock

I was thinking of making a stone hot tub or a stone sauna.....how hard could it be?

That is super nice! and...I can't imagine how much work it would be to create something like that.


Ty, I know that was a LOT of work taking up that sidewalk and hauling all those rocks and bricks. It'll definitely be worth it though. I LOVE walkways, walls, firepits, and well, anything made out of rocks. I know it is very expensive to buy stone/rock to landscape with.
