ive seen flying insects when there was snow on the ground. Ive never really fly fished before. may have tried some.

 

I've always wanted to fly fish, too. I never thought I'd be any good at it, though. Plus I don't know anybody that knows how to fly fish haha.

 

Man, I'm so happy to be back on the forums! I just wish all the regulars were back, too. It was fun in the old days haha

 

How years ago in days of old when magic filled the air.. everyone must ramble on eventually..

A lot of Neil Young lately. I've been on a kick of his for awhile now. I also have been listening to some Seger. I've needed some legit rock n' roll in my life haha.

PA is full of good fly fishing opportunities.. you guys got some really good trout waters over there

@Orison.. there is always a lot of insect life in the streams around here.. goes back to the whole limestone.. leaves the water with a balanced Ph level creates a good environment for bug life.. Early in the winter.. few bugs.. if any hatch.. when the water starts warming back up.. Midge(looks like a black mosquito without a stinger) will hatch.. then some stoneflies.. and a few species of may flies come late winter/early spring.. then from there is a myriad of mayflies.. caddisflies... etc that hatch throughout the rest of the year

I know! I love PA for it's nature. I live in a highly wooded area, and have national parks and lakes and ski resorts all around me. I know of some really good trout and bass spots. Honestly though, I've only ever saw a couple people fly fish before. I don't think many people do it around here, but I could be wrong.

 

There's fly fishermen everywhere.. We just prefer not to be bothered.. So we stay well hidden

 

best fishing for me is bass and walleyes. and carp.. plenty of carp . the two minute fishing trip.. catch carp go home.

 

So much carp around here! Biiiiig ones, too.

I like smoked carp...

Carp on a fly rod is a blast!... I'm heading to Michigan this summer to chase carp on the flats of Lake Michigan

carp on a stick, over a fire., we used to snack like that while fishing. put another carp on the stick.. :2thumbsup:
