It's not a simple as back a month, every month was not what is the norm... Scattered throughout the year so far. Temps were off, rainfall was off, the animals reactions are off, the trees are acting weird.

That is what I have been thinking about...the animals and trees (especially trees) don't seem to be acting right.

I've noticed more and more birds calling out when its weird - like owls during the day (which is absolutely unheard of around here), hawks screeching when they are just circling. More bird song at night and less in the day. This summer more than any I can remember I've seen lots of butterflys.

Wild life becoming more and more bold, coming close.

Once again, I'll bring up my bay tree...I've had that dingdang tree for at least 15 yrs...bringing it in and out for winter until last winter. Then it goes and dies in 3 days after being filled with more leaves than it has ever had. Well, except for 2 little sprouts that I have left remaining at the base. ALL of the other stems and branches I tried to root have turned brown, which to be honest I expected,

Anyway, my bay tree was sort of my last straw in deciding things in nature are getting very hinky.

If you want to know if climate change is real.. just ask a farmer. It never should have been named 'global warming'... it should have been called Climate Extremes.

I'll just give you a couple of examples. I have too many for a lazy person like me to list.

We have Autumn Olives growing here. You pick them after the first freeze when the berries are at their sweetest. I have some that ripen in July now. About a third of the bushes just suddenly changed their lifecycle. It's great that they are attempting to acclimate to a changing climate but it's also an alarm bell for something in nature to have adapted within the space of four or five years.

Other growing things are NOT adapting so quickly.. like fruit trees hit with freezing weather six weeks after it should have ended. Farmers have always been at the mercy of nature.. but extremes haven't been part of the equation at such current levels.

Our apples trees are too, Rolling! I'm picking more today so the limbs don't break.

Our pear trees only had about 2 dozen pears this year, though. And our peach trees had no fruit. None. Cherry trees.. None. Plum tree.. none. Figs.. None.

The price of food will be interesting in the years to come if people don't wake up to what we're doing to the earth. It isn't only climate change.. we're also killing the bees that pollinate.

Lemme just climb off my soapbox now. :) Colorado is looking more and more like the place I should move. I could grow the hell out of some herbage in a greenhouse.

Anyone know what it takes to be a grower in any of the states where it's legal? I think in Colorado you can legally grow six plants. I've tried researching it and I can't find what sort of license you have to have in order to be a commercial grower of herbage. I need to know how expensive that license is and how hard it is to get one.

i drove down 44 in the late 90's on the way to texas

the ozarks section of missouri was the best scenery the whole trip

i like the way they had special lanes for the bigger trucks to crawl up the hills and we could pass

It is amazingly beautiful here, Spaceman. I have year-round springs and creeks and thick forests. Almost no people live here... which is amazing since this acreage is only about 1k an acre. But.. if a lot of people move here.. it'll lose the pristine element. So don't tell anyone!

6 plants, 2 in flower at any given time for personal use. 12 plants if medicinal personal use (edibles)

the big grows to supply the dispensaries require licensing, security cameras, etc. and grows can not be visible from outside (IIRC) so greenhouses are impractical, because apparently they dont want anyone being able to see shit from a helicopter either.

its so fucking crowded here now though, you would be better off trying to move to a state where they are about to legalize it, and get in on the ground floor. the cost of housing is ridiculous. maybe some of the little farm towns are affordable, but for the most part anything with access is way overpriced.

6 plants does not need any license. You would need a retail license to own a store or grow for one. You can get medical, retail or both. Most places just do retail its a much bigger market. Don't count on any bank giving you a loan. That's the hard part no one treats it like a real business. You have to do everything in cash and still figure out how to pay taxes and not get the IRS after you.
