I was a member of a religious debate forum that demanded you only post on a certain board if you were a member of that religion, or if you were not a member of that religion you had to ask a question to make sure you did not get in trouble for posting. Lame.

good morning....everyone is welcome here...maelstrom included

 

House fire... Major loss and damage, including loss of most of the animals.

It is major structural damage to the first floor joists and the roof truss'. I found more damage to the first story floor and the joists yesterday. We have been walking right past the burned couch for several days, yesterday I flipped it over to see if the one cat I haven't found yet might have hidden there. No go, still one missing, but I found structural damage there including the joists.

As far as the structure/insurance coverage. Nobody can make me rebuild that house or another new house on that property. I do need to do something though. As far as the city is concerned a demo up to their specification is probably the best way to go. Unfortunately the cost of that is more than the property is worth.

I need to find another living arrangement with what's left after the demolition... I have coverage for up to 12 months of living arrangements if I need it. There is also personal property coverage. How much I get for that depends on how much can be determined total loss vs repaired, or a "we don't cover those". They also have some limits on some classes like jewelry, or computers, etc. Those things only pay up to that limit. If I have more than that, I should have gotten extra coverage.


Long story short.... It's a big fucking mess.

i've been only half following these idle no more protests that are happening around the country, and now i'm trying to educate myself and understand the issues... still not sure what to think about it.
