I always said that Texas was way too far back-east to be called "The West." So, it's probably not "The West."

Hey, Y'all! Mess with Texas.

If Texas is Southern, then that just admits that it really is Baja Oklahoma. So, it's probably not "The South."

So, is Texas southern or western?

Maybe it's just plain vanilla "Central." Kind of like Central Time. What do you guys think?

Iffen ya keep going SOUTH through Texas you would drive off into the Gulf. Ya really cant get much more south then that. Texas is so huge that it is north, south, east and west depending on which side of the river you live on... And please, just so things dont get messy, never ever compare Texas with oklahoma, it a sin. Let us all remember, least we all forget.. DONT MESS WITH TEXAS, yeeehhhaawww, y'all

Hey! Dallas. So, then you said that Texas is so huge that it is north, south, east and west depending on which side of the river you live on...
So, if I look at a map of Texas, then the part of Texas that you guys live in is kind of in the North East part of Texas. Does that mean that that is the Yankee part of Texas, or do ya have to drive a few miles more to the North East in order to get ta the Yankee part of Texas.

Exactly where does the Yankee part of Texas start?

I'd ask Ranger, but he's from a South West part o' Texas where they don't tell anybody nothing. So, he won't know. LOL

The northern/yankee part of Texas is just north
of the Oklah withoma line! In reality a few counties just below that line did voted to go with the Yanks, but lets nt talk about that.....

As a matter of fact Kenny me boy California came within one vote of going with the South that being the reason fo Union Square on SF. The f;ks in nya'lls part of Cal raised a regiment to support the South which was half way aacross Az when the vote came down and had t return.

Shameless, there are 5 gelogical zones in Texas and the Articals of anexatioon say that Texas will be allowed to split into five states.

Me and my Lady stayed for a week in Austin back when we were figuring where we wanted to move to. We were standing on the bank of the river on the south side of the main bridge at Sunset, doing some bat watching. Can that qualify me as southern? We liked the old houses on the hill there.

However, I must say that 6th. Street is on the north side of the river and that is were all of the bands and bars and music and the whole scene is. The fun place. We were even in the big Halloween parade on 6th. Street, and on local TV.
Does that mean that them Yankees get to have all of the FUN? Many o' the bands were southern.

I'm confused.

Legend had it that that Auatin being the capital of the Republic the reason Austin was the center f the 'hip movment' was that the first long hair busted was the son of a State Senator and all hell broke loose and Austin PD had to sit up and take notes!

PS; We lost our nice free wireless conect and had to arrange to buy our own. Darn it!!!@!

 

Going to a funeral to day. This is a tough one kids. We have some friends that live in the next town over, we have camped and partied with these folks for several yrs. Linda and Justin Henson and their two kids Jasmine, 7 and Even, 1. Thursday night it was very cold so Linda turned on the space heater in the kids room.

There was a fire. The parents, grandmother and neighbors tried despertly to get the kids out. They managed to save Even but the fire had reached Jamine and she parished.

The parents were care flighted to Dallas to a burn center. They were badly burned from trying to get to Jasmine.. Linda will have to under go reconstructive surgery on her face and hands.

I cannot imagine the horror and I pray to GOD Linda did not hear Jasime scream or call out. This is something a parent will never get over. It's unthinkable.

My heart goes out to these ppl in their grief.

hey Kenny, things as always have changed. Actually the Armadillo World Head Quarters was on the south side way back, as well as the Split Rail, Continental Club which is still standing . South Congress is now called SoCo,,, but yes there are too many clubs on 6th street. I dont go there. To many cops, it used to be pretty safe, but once they started closing 6th st. every wked. crime shot up,,, murder's and such dastardly things,,,, progress,,,, NOT.

Man, that's horrible. These poor folks. They loose there daughter and they're all burnt up. What a nightmare.

How can anyone send enough love and bring enough hugs?

I know, right.. there just isnt any thing that can bring them comfort. No fruneral.. it wasnt today it is Wendsday.. I am glad I got the message right, from someone else who knew the details before I left.
