Don't remeber carrot juice but I'll never forget Oceola. Our family band. What a band. they could jam out. I played with them just a bit. They even had an ex-Monkey with them for a while. Coming back from a Marin gig with them one night, Black Darrel or Kelly driving the blue chevy wagon; went off the road and almost off a cliff. Passed out from booze & boo, I woke up with a jolt, with my amp and keyboard on top of me, climbed up the hill and ended up at one of Mamas & Papa's John Phillips' house. Didn't see how close we were to crashing diown the mountain (stopped by a big boulder) till the next day.

That's the most clothes I've ever seen Darrel wear. A few miles on him like the rest of us but that voice and demeanor are unmistakable. I loved when he said some people collect bottle caps, he does hides. Very funny. And yeah, Spud it was Soffer and a few others who were only consuming carrot juice. Remember? They all turned orange. Some of that faction went cold turkey into macrobiotic and got very ill. It was Peter Tork of The Monkees that played with Osceola. I think he was a friend of Osceola Chuck.

Hey Steven. You are correct that we were (are) but a small part of something very big, of a collective consciousness. But I have to give credit where credit is due and you were our point man, driving us, inspiring us, not by words but by actions. Be at peace knowing that you were a part of the acorn that the oak has grown from.

Zev, that's not Ron but a brother named Amos. Ron had been dead (heart failure) a few years when this was taken. The woman in front of Amos is Risa. And Chick Chuck is kneeling in front of Risa. That's Larry the Lip Weisman in the back row center. I'm laying down in the front to the left of Mouse and that's Big Steve in the red shirt next to him on the right. The guy in the blue shirt with the 'stache standing behind Steve is Spud. Alice is just to the left behind Mouse. The rest of the folks are of the Oregon/Umpqua Valley faction of the family . Reggie was there but she's the one who took the snap in a community center in Eugene in '99. She and Big Steve had changed the least.

Hey, I just sent an e-mail to Tony Serra and asked if he maybe had a copy of the poster for the Platypus Party's Mayoral run. Let's hope he does.

Have you been in touch with Tony. At Ranger's suggestion I twice tried to e-mail him at his law firm. Thought i'd tell him that my plan to become an attorney wasn't just blowng smoke I received no response. By the by I just found Lautzker on facebook and told him about this forum. Thanks for telling me who to look for in the picture. I just "saw" Alice and Risa.

Spud you should tag your pictures if possible.

Somehow I get the feelinhg we may be building up to another family reunion ( I missed the last one) and ingathering of the tribe, so to speak. Virtual is better than nothing but in the flesh is fresh.

I have no idea where to begin; I feel soo full of love and excitement to have reconnected.
    WHERE DID IT START FOR ME;
I had a weekend liberty from the USS Midway, it was xmas '69. I was a gunners mate and I'd had it with the war, I'd done some gettin' high; acid and the like, before the military and during too, but I needed to find "home". Walkin down Haight street High on some powerful acid; lookin for "some thing real". Up ahead some speed freaks in a door way were hastling everyone who came by, they grabbed at some hooker about 20 yards ahead of me. She beat them off and went on her way. When I came abreast of them they went to make their move and I gave them the powerful acid enhanced look of death; the backed off. I'd not gotten 20 yards past them when I heard a ruckus behind me and a gun shot. Some straight kid stumbled up by me saying "my god, they shot me!".I assessed the situation; small caliber gun shot through the thigh. No sense in being a hero here: I threw him over my shoulder and headed up Haight to the next corner where this guys girl friend in her daddy's T bird was waiting for him. He had come from some suburb to score; he hadn't scored what he expected. I suggested they go home.

Up the street another block there was music coming from a store front; "The Ever Lovin'Trading Post". I went in, vibes were... very special, very real...genuine. I took it in. I saw real brothers and sisters; dancing... feeling...singing..and I spyed an enchanting young woman...mysterious, with knowledge in her eyes that belyed her years (Dana). I got to talking with some of the brothers; one had long blond hair and beard and understanding in his eyes(Steven). They understood... that I was obviously military... and that I was "looking... for...it".

I spent xmas eve in a delapidated house no vibes no love...junkies crashing around. Christmas morning found me walking down the street.. still looking. I came across Steven. He asked me if I had found what I was searching for? I told him no. He said then you should come to Christmas dinner at our house; 1915 Oak Street. I went there to dinner. I knew I'd found "home".

More Later; I am so full of love.
    Namaste, Mouseman

Hey, y'all remember Freckles? I know I was going to share a Mouseman tale but this one just kills me, so I'll delay the former for the sake of the humor of the latter.

For those of you who knew him you know who I mean. For those of you that don't, well, he was some kind of albino cross breed of lab/hound. He was one smart pooch. He just appeared one day and acted like he had been living with us forever. Within a few days he had it all down. He knew all the restaurants on Haight and he knew their closing times. I cannot count how many times I saw him in front of Kansas City BBQ at 11:00 p.m. waiting for them to toss the surplus ribs of the day. Freckles loved the free eats. He also loved the ladies. And that, like most of us dudes, is what got him in trouble.

One morning I came up for breakfast at the Hole In The Wall and Nancy was extremely p.o'd. She didn't have the greatest sense of humor in the first place but the look on her face told me this was way beyond any tolerance. I ask what the problem is and without word one she opens her bedroom door. Her little girl dog, a mix of border collie and pom has a very forlorn look on her face, much like her Mom's. Suddenly, Freckles' face pops up from behind her. He's got this "hey what's the problem?" expression goin' on. Long story short, forcible sex acts, man or beast, just ain't gonna cut it.

A little bit later, Mad Anthony and Leonard load Freckles up in Tony's woody and off they go. They cross the Bay Bridge, get to People's Park in Berkeley and open the back door. Freckles jumps out. Tony guns it and motors back to the Haight. He parks the car, he and Leonard hop out, and make their way to the Cole Street house. They walk up the outside stairs and there waiting...is Freckles lying by the front door with a "hey, where you guys been?" look on his hound dog mug.

    That was one crafty canine.

Hey everyone, it looks like via osmosis and evolution that Chris and I may head up the doc so what you are writing here is so fucking awesome, but keep in mind we will want you to do it in front of a camera as well. Not saying to stifle just remember and recall the emotions you are feeling as you post here.

And hey Spud. Is that Panama '68 or Guadalcanal '44? Classic, bro.

Zev, when did you send the missives of wanting to be an atty. to Tony? The guy is/was a media star and thusly, self-absorbed back in the day and probably as well now. Fame is fame. It comes with the territory.

No, I am not really in touch with him, I found his contact info and fired off a requisite e-mail asking about the PP Poster. I greased him a bit telling him how amazing he was and is, blah, blah, blah. You gotta smoke the pole on these people. I'm not sure what the metaphor is for the female of the specie, "Flick the Bic?" He was. personally a great guy yes but professionally he's in the Belli, Bailey, Cochran, Shapiro, and Darrow pantheon. I truly believe that he thought dealing within certain parameters (no minors, no hard or addictive drugs, etc.) was a victimless crime and the system was unjust
and wasting time and money to prosecute these cases.. But I also believe that it was devise to make his name. Hey Jerry Brown drove to his job as governor in a used Plymouth and he served max terms because of it.
