You're not getting what I'm saying at all.

Lets say that there are 5 people who can vote on something.
Let say that only 3 people are around to vote.
Lets say that the other 2 are absent, at the time of the voting.

Lets say that the 3 people all vote yes, and approve something.

It wins by a majority. Right?

So, how do we record this in the Minutes of the meeting?
Do we say.
it passes 3-0.
it passes 3-0, with 2 were absent.
Do we say it passes 3-2.

What exactly do we write down in the Minute as the official record of the vote?

Here's the problem.

If 2 days later or 8 days later, the other 2 people show up and they vote no, then the record in the minutes is a lie.
It will change it to 3 to 2. Not 3 - 0

What if they come along later and both vote Yes.
then the record is a lie, because it states 3 yes, now its 5 yes.

The new vote is 5 to 0

Parliamentary procedure does not allow for you to do things that way. These problems have all been run into in the past, by others.

Parliamentary rules would have you properly vote to CLOSE the voting, and to except no further votes on the issue.
Thereby making it a closed matter.

This, for us, is particularly important, because of the fact that we are having a style of meeting that lasts for a period of time, over days and days.

Proper procedure is to close the vote. Then record. the vote.

Even if the were a motion to close the voting on that issue, and it were seconded, there were No votes cast.


If there actually were any votes cast, and somehow I missed that, Then there were only 2 vote for. That's not a majority.

So, if you want to close the meeting, than it shall be recorded that the issue of ending that voting, lost, with no clear majority.
The voting on that issue is still OPEN for additional valid votes to be heard. And the new votes are welcomed. Get it?

Duh ME, actually that one was unanimous. We don't need to close something that was unanimous.

I move that we close and end the vote for all of the Executive Board Members. That votes needs to be ended.
