No you said that he has the potential to become Hitler (more accurately, a tyrant). Every president has had that potential. EVERY... PRESIDENT. Why are people so adamant about Obama becoming a tyrant? Did they forget about our last president?

 

I can't speak for 'most people'. Bush was a tyrant, and all I'm saying is that Obama probably will be too. I don't see his election as any kind of change, but just a progression of Bush's reign using different rhetoric. All I see Obama doing is using the same excuses as Bush for his inaction, and moving the country further toward socialism. Not that it would have been any different with any other president. The left and right all seem to have the same ends in mind, even if they use superficially different means.

I see Obama as a deified leader, which is dangerous, and I can see a lot of socialistic legislation being passed by his government, which I disagree with. I'm not saying this because I'm a republican -- I'm not: left and right are both the same. I distrusted Bush and I distrust Obama. If you're in love with the man, fine, but that doesn't mean I have to be.

I don't care what he was best known for. Socialism was a central part of Hitler's philosophy. I am opposed to socialism because it takes away people's right to be responsible for themselves, and forces them to behave a certain way 'for the common good'. I do not believe that we exist to serve a collective good, but to serve our own good, and therefore I cannot abide a system which attempts to force such strictures on people.

And by the way, although I am an American citizen, I have lived in Canada most of my life. The attitudes of any person or group are of no consequence. I don't dislike socialism because it is an American trend to do so -- Americans have, in fact, been warming up to the idea for quite awhile now.
