I pay a shitload of taxes for my health coverage, and I dislike the system. I know you are into universal health care -- that's fine, you like what you like. But you can stop with your stupid bullshit about how everyone who disagrees with you is an evil republican who wants to eat the poor. I think that both the Canadian and American health care systems are fucked in their own ways, and I disagree with the idea of a national health care system to begin with, just as I disagree with most of the other bureaucratic institutions put in place by governments. If you're into big-government socialism, fine. I'm not.

I'm not sure what part of the movie you're referring to. Some parts were true, but overall it was emotionally-charged, sensationalised bullshit, an art form which Moore has mastered.

I suppose you dispose of your own garbage, intend to fight a fire yourself in the unfortunate event you experience one, work on the roads you travel, dig your own well and not use the socialized water system, doctor yourself, refuse police help in the event criminals take advantage of you--ect,ect.So you dislike both medical systems ,eh?Just what in the fuck do you like?I have not ever seen anything positive from you here about anything.Only critisism.Let's hear what you think are some good ideas about how things should work. You always seem to call what I think bullshit---in fact all I did was ask you how your medical care was--struck a nerve did I?OK boy--let's hear it.

There's a difference between universal health care and a state health care monopoly.

You can have universal coverage with private insurers, you just need the government to pick up some of the bill.

So you were just casually interested, huh? It's not like we've discussed medical systems before and you saw an opportunity to sarcastically restate your point.

What do I believe in? In an ideal world, all the things you asked me so sarcastically if I did for myself, people actually would do for themselves. No one would be coerced into working for others, but would do so only if they wanted to. You seem to think it's impossible to live apart from others, but it's not. I don't care if people depend on one another, as long as they do it of their own free will, for the mutual benefit of all involved. What I like, is people who are willing to care for themselves, instead of crying to the government to do it for them. I like people who, when they see a problem, say 'what can I do about it?', rather than 'what can the government do about it?' 'How can I protect myself and take care of myself', not 'how can the government protect and care for me.'

I don't care if there are systems that benefit everyone, and obviously we would be the ones to support them. However, I don't believe anyone should be forced to pay for something they don't value. If I don't want help if my house catches fire, I shouldn't have to pay for it -- same with police. And obviously, if we have the right to refuse these things, we need to have the right to do them for ourselves.

Let me break it down for you. I believe people are their own individual responsibility. I do not believe government exists to take care of them, or to protect them from themselves. Government exists to protect men from each other, and this applies only in the case of a threat of direct harm: physical harm to life, limb or property. I am well aware that almost anything can be justified for the 'common good', which is why we need to draw the line. This is what I believe in.

Now, for the other stuff. I don't owe you any explanations about my beliefs. I don't care if you think I'm negative; I don't care if you're a democrat or a republican: I'm neither; I don't care what you believe about personal responsibility or the role of government. It's all just more repetition to me. I can get it from at least half the people on this site, and on all the leftist news networks, blogs and 'alternative media' sites. So give it a rest.

Well,my concern is only that everyone get decent health coverage whether they can afford it or not. Cut out the waste and fraud would be one way to pay for those that have lost their insurance and those that can't afford it.Bush's tax cuts would be one place to start.Ending the wars would be another and ending foreign aid would help. We need the aid here.

Well then you are stupid, you don't compare people to Hitler for reasons other than what he was known for: trying to wipe out the Jewish race. It's like saying someone is like Jesus because they both like to wear robes, it's just a dumb comparison.

And news flash, you're already part of a system that's focused around a 'common good', it's called capitalism, where everyone works to make the rich richer, and in this case of health care, make the insurance companies richer. You end up paying for everything anyway, and then some, socialism just attempts to alleviate some of those costs for the general population, and correct me if I'm wrong, but if you already have private health insurance, nothing will change for you, so what the fuck is there to complain about?

You talk about fundamentally disagreeing with socialism, but I don't hear your enthusiasm for fundamentally disagreeing with a system that makes a profit off of sick people, that's how messed up America is, your priorities are twisted.

    There is no "Jewish race."

    Judaism is a religion.

Also, you employ very poor logic.

wait... hitler isn't know JUST for trying to wipe out the jews. hitler WAS NOT the only person in history whom attempted the genocide of jews.

pre WW2 Poland expelled the jews from the country which lead them to germany, the germans were like "wtf we don't want these jews". which partilly lead to the hate crusade which lead to the holocaust. which lead to the creation of isreal where the jews are still not wanted. and dont forget the Russian Purges.

if you look back far enough you'll see no one really liked the jews, ever. one of the reasons is because they tend to be the richer people. and also because they claim they are "gods chosen people" yea, they were chosen to the bait of all evil.

He's best known for that by most people, but that doesn't make it the only important quality someone can share with him. Hitler was fundamentally a socialist -- read his fucking books. You should really read over what you write afterward, and try to filter out all the bullshit you typed in your righteous anger. Otherwise you just look like an idiot. I have said multiple times that Obama and Hitler is not the most apt comparison, and that I wouldn't have stated it that way myself. You don't even have a point to argue, you're just writing incoherently about Hitler and Jews. Look into Hitler's background a bit, because there was a hell of a lot more to him than hating Jews.

I'm not talking about that because that's not the conversation we're having here. I loathe the current health system, but I won't like the new one any better. I'm not saying things are good the way they are -- they aren't, and haven't been for a long time. I don't have a side in this 'health-care' debate. The system has always been fucked, and probably always will be. I certainly don't think any of these changes are aimed at making it better, and will probably make it worse.

I find your thoughts on socialism entertaining though, and not just a little naive. Socialism has never been about helping the workers, or anything of that nature. It's a convenient lie, and it works very well when you already have the people living in slums and working sixteen hour days, but socialism doesn't change this. People consider the Russian and German systems as failures of socialism, but they weren't at all: socialism did exactly what the leaders of those countries intended it to.

Like propaganda and trying to force their agenda on the country? Like the exact opposite to Obama who has been very compromising and too soft to get across his policies?

    That kind of action?

    I don't know...
At the moment, we have no Public Option...
Cap & Trade isn't doing well...
The whole union thing fell apart...
Guantanamo is still open and won't close on the deadline...
The troops aren't really going to be out of Iraq for a while...
Afghanistan is probably going to get more troops...
    No torture prosecutions yet...
Don't ask, Don't tell is still around...
    No immigration reform...

That is what I don't get... He hasn't even done much but he is supposedly destroying America? Ok.....
