    Yes RooRshack,
this is correct. With Medicinal Marijuana shops already in place, I'd assume the transition should be pretty smooth.

But to put it simply, yes, you can legally carry an ounce around with you as if it were tobacco once it is signed. The Governor commented saying he wished the people didn't vote for this to pass, but continued to say it his job to follow the votes of the people and he will implement it as he's meant to. He is required to sign it within 30 days of November 6th. So as soon as that happens, no problem walking around with your bag/blunt/etc. whatever you have.

Growing is legal now, 6 plants are allowed for personal use. Businesses are allowed to be started for cultivation. I'm hoping this will also allow for a stronger product of the use of hemp (Which was kind of already legal across the nation. Hemp that was allowed to be used usually came from Canada and wasn't allowed to have THC levels above some ridiculously low number. I've had a wallet made from hemp) But this will make use of the product much easier. I think hemp is pretty cool durable cheap material, maybe a new wave of fashion will come through. Like a modern-hippie style. Man, am I pumped! This is just so futuristic.

I wanted to say though, there is HUGE opposition for this, Colorado has a weird mix of culture, from hicks like in South Park, to really inspirational people, and there are some backfires to this legalization. My mom for one is PISSED, and everyone's going on about how the world's ending (I can't even tell if they're serious or not either).. Just today some guy had some major road rage and was driving around cussing people out since Obama and Pot took Colorado. I really can't wait to move out.. ha. Sorry I kind of went on there.

I am glad my state legalized, but IMO it doesn't change anything. First for me living in Denver with medical card, it is legal for me to have an oz or less even without a card and has been for years. Two oz with my card but that is only per visit.

There is no way a coffee shop can open or anyway for it to be sold like a legitimate good. Banks will not give loans to such business, as they have been told not to by the DEA. The medical shops here have gone into their own pocket to open. It is still illegal on a federal level, so as a smoker you still have two choices, get a guy or get a card. Any business will be go by federal level first.

All this means is as resident of Colorado for me to be charged with a weed offense you need to try me in a federal court as any state court will find it legal. No federal court will bother with this.

Why couldn't a coffee shop open?

Medical businesses are illegal under federal law. There will be dispensaries that are for general non medical people now. Why can't they also have a chill environment and snacks, and be a coffee shop?

It's not about the complaicent stoners who can smoke, and so don't care.... it's about bringing it out and letting the world see that, and forcing the feds to fuck off. This will fuck them off of medical stuff, and this will embolden other states, and this will be a nail in the coffin of marijuana prohibition in the US..... so it bothers me when people say "meh, I don't care, I could smoke before hand". Well yes, we can ALL smoke any time we want, that's not what the legal fight is about.

And yes, before this, you could get a ticket based on state law in denver, even though denver was cool with weed.
