noodles and broth, with lemon in it, and usually some kind of meat. mushrooms, nori, onions, greens, any of those optionally as additions. and by noodles, i mean any and every kind of pasta. pasta salads are good too, but without vinaigrette, (although REAL dill pickles are good) and with meat of some kind optionally. of course anything i don't have to make myself is a kind of comfort food too, but not a main part of what i eat, which the noodle stuff is.
I love all kinds of food except soup is not one of my favorites. I call it hot flavored water. I don't really have a comfort food.
Chocolate. I eat more on cold, winter days.. I love coffee and chocolate and toasted sandwiches and soup and everything.. On hot hot summer days I tend to eat pretty healthy and don't go for the comfort foods as much. Maybe ice cream or yoghurt..
Tonight I am making one of mine, Chicken and dumplings. My daughter is still ill so this will be a good meal for her as it is easy to digest.
Shredded hash browns are my go-to sick food when my stomach is off. Potatoes of any kind, actually. Cream of garlic soup always makes me feel better and usually kicks whatever cold or flu I have square in the nads. It tastes like garlic mashed potatoes with bits of bacon in it. I got the recipe here: http://www.notquitenigella.com/2010/07/04/cream-of-garlic-soup/ If I'm not sick and just want to spoil myself, I like Chinese food, namely boneless spare ribs and pork fried rice, and anything savory: burgers and fries, Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and dark brown gravy, tuna noodle casserole, chicken or goose pot pie, homemade mac'n'cheese, oyster stew and a side of fried fish, shit on a shingle... All those things you should never ever eat because they have enough fat, cholesterol and sodium to take down a horse.
