i'm just gonna say soy...i don't want it in my food at all...there shouldn't be soy oil in my damn tuna...that shit pisses me off. and all the other food its put in.
About 90% of the soy in the country today is Genetically Engineered too...not a really safe food option. Maybe a little bit better than dairy if it is certified organic and still in whole food form, but a lot of it is just a cheap food by product big companies can produce and use for really cheap...
I've heard good things about almond milk. Some say goat milk is better than regular milk. Any comments on that? .
If you can get raw goat's milk (where it's legal in CA and a couple other places), it's more digestable than cow's milk and definatley much more digestable than any pasteurized and homogenized milk... But it is still a weight gain food that slows the metabolism down and contains a lot of cholesterol that's really problematic for a lot of people... If it's of good quality(raw and organic), I think it's great in moderation but not as a staple =) Hemp Seed Milk is really ideal because it has Omega 3's(good for the brain and nervous system, also anti-inflammatory) in it and the complete protein in it is actually absorbable because the protein contains edestin, which is very similar to what our blood is made of.
where do you get hemp seed milk? and what exactly is it made of besides the obvious. Ive never heard of it before
onions, peppers (cooked, I like them raw), tomatoes (cooked, I like them raw once again, don't mind sauces though), asparagus, many types of nuts (I like cashews and peanuts though), olives, mustard.
Hey Ghost =) You can get hemp seed milk in most big chain organic food stores like Whole Foods or Wild Oats, or most other health food stores in your area... I don't think Trader Joe's carries it though. It's usually got brown rice syrup in it and it's fortified with certain vitamins. You can get a hemp milk maker at http://www.rawfood.com if they have it in stock, and make your own and add vanilla, cinnamon and whatever else you like...it's really good fresh. You can also get "nut milk" bags at rawfood.com for cheap(like 5 bucks)...then with a blender, you can make all sorts of fresh cholesterol-free milks
I've known a couple people who had a bad lactose reaction. Their faces would puff up terrible if they had any regular milk or anything that contained it, such as milk chocolate. .
