I was taught that the "commies" hated us "because we are free" that they wanted to take over our country, kill our men, rape our womyn, destroy our economy, force us all to live under totalitarian rule, take away our right to worship as Christians, and they were "hidden all around us." Basically, the same thing a lot of kids are taught about Islam today.

It is really sad, these uneducated attitudes.

That is not the problem. To see where communist fails you have to see where the American revolution failed. See the founding farthers and the people had very different agendas in the revolution.

As you can see the American revolution turned USA into what the ruling class wanted not the average joe wanted. The US nation state takes wealth away from local communities and demands obedience just like the old British Empire. Don't belive me? Take a look at the civil war, proof that the states in the union are under the iron fist of the federal goverment.

The American revolution is a complete failure based on the ideals the revolution was orginally based on.

So what happened? Same thing that happened in Cuba, China, Russia, France, ect. The uprising is the easy part but when you win the war and your oppressors are taken care of, then what? After the celibration most revolutions fall apart and lose their orginal goal mostly because the people don't partake anymore. For example France, yes people got involved when it came to cutting off some aristocrats head yet the people didn't stop Napoleon when he was clearly counter revolutionary.
