Moving on to Attacks.

The first type of attack mods must contend with is the most prevalent. The personal attack.

Personal attacks come in several varieties, one is the blatant, "I don't like your post and I can't think of any way to rebut it or offer anything constructive so I'll just call you an idiot." Then the attacker will post, "Your an idiot."

I like these because they're so easy to mod. Notice the attacker calls the attacked an idiot and then proceeds to use your as a second person possessive adjective without following it with a noun or gerund instead of using you're as a contraction of you are, as in "You are an idiot."

So, if your following, it should read "You're an idiot." Not "Your an idiot".

That was a test.

Anyway moving on......
Another type of personal attack is one that is born from frustration. This results from the fact that you have posted numerous entirely reasonable letters combined into words, sentences, and even paragraphs from which the only completely logical conclusion to be reached; is the one YOU have reached. And the idiot still doesn't agree with you!

Most times, in this case, you will end up posting something like, "Your an idiot!"

Notice the difference with the first case. Frustration has raised your blood pressure as indicated by the barometric exclamation point.

Both cases merely point out that the fault lies with you, not the attacked, because you don't have sufficient mental capacity to get your point across in a clear, simple, manner. And if you don't believe me, your an idiot and I'll have to delete your post, or something like that.

Repeated personal attacks result in a ban.

So that's the first type of attack. The second is pretty rare and has only happens pretty rarely.

I can recall once maybe twice or so....the worst was when someone here got into an argument with another board, I don't remember who, what, when, or where....but it resulted in a flood of jpegs of diseased genitalia and other disgusting things like that. It was really ugly. We were running around with buckets of water putting out fires everywhere. Anyway it all turned out to be a misunderstanding and everyone kissed and made up.

Now, I have to pause and think about what I want to cover next.

Very acute observation and also very humorous.

 

I don't look up to Lennon as an authority on authority. And I also hate authority figures, but someone has to do the dirty work, someone has to be the heavy, or we all go down fast. I've seen anarchy and it ain't pretty.

Me, I'm tired of sex, with all that free sex in the sixties, liberated women everywhere, and all the studs over in Vietnam leaving us college boys to protect the women folk back home...it was rough. I don't think I slept for four years.

Then I get this gig and women are crawling outa my video screen night and day; as we're international ya know. So now it's like, 24 hours a day.

Research from Carnegie Mellon tells us that too much is less enjoyable than not enough...or something like that.
So I limit myself in that regards.

Maybe in some future thread called "Moderator Tells All, the Depredations, Misconduct, and Joy of the Iron Fist, or Nooky Needs of the Middle-age Mod"; I'll add some titillation.
