I am proud to be gay not in any superficial or stereotypical manner. (so I don't dress like a queen come gay pride day -- indeed, I am not even interested in such functions.) I am not proud to be gay because I view it as some kind of political expedient. I am proud to be gay because I am proud to be myself; I am proud to be different. While I am occasionally disgusted by the actions and lifestyles of some in the gay community, I do not let this become a hindrance to my own sense of pride. I am not a typical liberal gay ideologue.

Yeah you worded my sentiments better their. I am proud and embrace who I am, but to be "Gay Pride" is no different than "White Pride". Because I see Homosexuality and White Skin Colour both as things you do not choose/decide. And I certainly am not proud of being "White". So to me its a hypocritical thing that the political left has warped into gay pride.

I just feel sorry for American Gay Cons....who do you have to vote for?

In almost all cases, it'll be the lesser of two evils. Maybe given a decade or so, the US Republican Party will be about as progressive on gay-rights issues as Canada's Conservative Party. But that really doesn't say too much because the latter is not really that good with gay rights.
