sounds all good, its crazy you couldn't find a pill that actually worked for you with minimal side effects.....

Well maybe there is one. Some of the ones I've been on have been ok I think...they seem to correspond with times when I wasn't too messed up. But really now I just want to give my body a break from all that anyway. Even one without side-effects still has health risks.

Amy I am so happy for you!!!! It must have felt great to be able to write all of that with such confidence and conviction about what was truly harming you and your thoughts. :( I had the same thing happen to me so hopefully this thread will help a few others. And I think I may have even used your exact words in this thread somewhere.... "I felt like a dark cloud was lifted". I swear everyday I left my house it was gloomy out. Again, so happy for you Amy. Your hubby must be really happy for you as well... watching you be able to enjoy proper happiness. :)

i'm on a low dose pill, it's the only thing that has helped my ridiculous cramps. i'm not interested in staying on this long term because of the risks but i'm not sure what other options i have. i use condoms for safety also.

Yeh, he was wary of saying anything at first, but later he said he noticed pretty much within 24 hours that I was different :) It's not like I'm running around with a mad grin on my face all the time; I'm just on one even level, not flying into several extreme moods each day. "Normal" I guess, within reason ;)

that word coil makes me gag, it just creates this rusty image in my head. I don't think condoms are that bad. I'd prefer to use them than go on the pill any day of the week.

Nah that creeps me out too much lol definitely not an option. I think it's his turn to deal with the hassle (...and mess) for a few years :p

The pill was VERY detrimental to my physical/mental health, AND my sex drive. When I finally stopped taking it all those things got better as soon as my body was clean of it- same thing happened with my room mate. I think BC Pills are fairly dangerous.

and as I don't have a monogamous partner (or want one) I use condoms.

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents...I won't take bc pills for many reasons but #1 being that they are abortifacient. I also pay attention to my body and it's cues and have mucho success. I don't temp and chart and all that, but I can feel when I ovulate and that along with cervical changes make it obvious.

It gets tricky with the whole lactational amenorrhea but there is actually a birth control method regarding that, too. So far I haven't had any unplanned pregnancies using the LAM while nursing and just paying attention once menses return.

I have a friend that is like that mama, she can feel her body ovulating, etc. I guess some women are more evolved that way then others.

chemigals, I had an IUD too, but the hormonal one. It's nice to never have to worry.

    Buuuuut.

Vasectomy FTW!!! Only three months until it has taken full effect and we will (hopefully) never have to think about it again. :)

I hated having to worry bout contraception,i always forgot my pill, the injection made me fat and condoms were forgotten when drunk so the coil is ideal.
vasectomy sounds like a great idea,my only worry would be splitting up with boyf and him wanting kids after with someone else, that would make me pretty sad.
I know that I dont want more kids, i told my boyf that wen i met him sadly i think he does :(
