Yeah, graffiti is awesome. Especially if it's done well. I really like to watch the train go through town here because people have drawn some awesome pictures on it over the years.

Some people are pretty damn good at it too.

Dont let a stranger make you feel bad about something you love.

Graffiti is urban art, it CAN be awesome and I dont know why you decided agaisnt posting pictures. I was excited to see them, but oh well.

When I was riding the train on my way to the airport, there was so much graffiti done on the way. It kept me visually entertained, it wasnt particularly awesome, but it made the gray stone walls look alive.

Yeah, honestly. It brings life to what otherwise is a modern nightmare.

They do the same shit here. Except for guys like ESPO, whose tags are impossible to replicate because the guy is,

    a) extremely talented

    b) climbs up and goes underground in the most impossible places to tag

But, there have been a bunch of graffitti artists here who were copy tagged. Teenage shit.

I think Baby168 was one of 'em. You get her tag in like McDonald's bathroom doors these days. Hilarious.

As for the debate whether it's vandalism or not. I abstain. It doesn't bother me, HERE in New York at least.

Though it does bother me in certain parts of Rio where it doesn't fit aesthetically. I dibbled with graffitti as a kid. Never too serious, though.

thanks! and i decided against posting for two reasons:
1: i think posting pics of illegal things on a public forum wouldn't be wise
    2: i don't wanna be ridiculed anymore

and i agree with praxis. there are places where graff doesn't fit the scene.
which is why i dont do it in the small town, just in phoenix.

    1. If you were invited to graffiti people's places as you said, how would it be illegal?
    2. You are being way too sensitive. The majority of posts in this thread don't ridicule you in any way. If you always expect complete approval for things, you will always be hurt.

It would be nice to see your work but I understand the wisdom behind your decision not to post photos.

This is dangerously close to a personal attack man. Disagree with what he's doing if you must but I see little constructive purpose to this response beyond igniting a flame war which, to his credit, the OP declined to engage in.

I hate when people randomly spray paint "fuck" all over the place. That is not art, it is bullshit.

i've seen some really beautiful graffiti art. i've seen some shit, and i've seen some lame tags, and i've seen some tagging in utterly impossible places and really had to give up a bit of respect, even if it wasn't pretty, it was still pretty impressive. i grew up with it, so i never had a problem seeing it. my mother in law hired a kid she found spraying a wall to do a mural in her back yard. it's a really beautiful landscape.
