I do too as well, it's pretty pointless and not creative at all... Just like people who spray paint a one in front of the speed limit number on those signs, I bet they think "oh, man, this is really going to mess things up.." People are slow and not very creative...

Yah I don't know what SE is talking about.

There are countless books and documentaries on the wonderful world of graffiti. Many tags are goregous. There are certian districts in big cities, noteably Queens, where many building are filled almost 100% with graffiti. Kind of the artist district of Queens. But like any media, there is a lot of crap. The crap does not bring the whole medium down however as some in this thread would have you believe. (suprisingly narrow minded eh?)

But really, art is in the eye of the beholder, so we can't force some people to accept graffiti, even if they view it with ill informed cliches. We can only hope to show them how beautiful it can be.

As BSR said, it can really liven up an otherwise drab area, making an eyesore into something quite delightful to view.

whoever came up with the 1 and 1000 tags are good BS, I must ask WTF? Now there is a made up stat pulled directly from the ass if I ever did hear one. I love how people can make up any stat they want to strengthen a weak point..well oh yah, 997 in every 1000 graffiti tags are amazing!

Graffiti artist is jailed day before show opens
Police say cleanup cost city $700,000
    Friday, January 18, 2008
By Diana Nelson Jones, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
The man considered Pittsburgh's most notorious graffiti artist has been ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluation.

22 year-old Daniel Montano allegedly tagged hundreds of properties throughout the city.

Thursday, a judge ordered Montano to spend 60 days in Mayview State hospital for examination and treatment.

Ahheemm... What kind of treatment? Ive yet been able to get a follow up to this since Im only going to one news site that soppose to be the shit in the burg and isnt, He recently went to court but I cant find it in ink? only on the tube/ arggh...

    That's too PRETTY!

No New York graffitti artist does that anymore! EVER! LOL!

A piece like that gets "thrown up" by taggers within the week over here. A shame, I know.

Orison: a lot of graffitti folk in New York committed suicide in the first half of the 1990s. SANE, SAMO and them. They were all on drugs at that point, I think.

well Im a artist to but I dont paint, Have seen lots of better art turning up in old hangout that are not from local kids, that I would know of.. I always make a big deal of rail cars exspecially box cars that have been within a citys confinds and get tagged, since I love trains and Art its fascinating to me as they roll by, And only getting a glance at a good piece now and then is worth it... Since thats always been the thing with trains to it here and then gone again...
Concider all artists part of the civilization and the definition they see it in.
Case we all die tomarrow Id like for the alien anthropologist to see we still loved to draw on walls for millions and millions of years.

They haven't had graffitti on trains here since Dinkins, really.

Once they brought out the redbirds and the stainless-steel cars, forget it.

But it WAS breath-taking the first time I've seen it. Queensbridge, early 90s. :D

well yeah they are treated with stuff to resist paint from a can, But the Old boxcars now thats where some productive stuff is turning up. Since the artist can proly work on the project without getting caught. THey should let them paint entire box cars and give them jobs but fuck nobody work on railroad cars anymore they make em with robots like they make everything else....poo:mad:

case you didnt know Im from outside PGH pa.
