In my opinion if you can be truly offended by any word, you should be taken back in time, and forced to go through school with a few extra pounds. Thats right, try being the fat kid in school, nothing anyone ever says to you after that can even come close to offending you. If that doesn't work, well, there's no saving you. lol.

Still though, I don't understand how people can be worked up over something like this, it seems so foolish.

 

He couldn't come up with a funny,witty response so he used a lame,racist insult that any 4th grader could come up with.

heres my view on this he is in the wrong for sure no doubt about it.but what about chappel or how ever you spell it.he talks alotl of shit about white people but we just laugh because it dosent hurt us i guess?but the word ****** is not a color it is an ignorant person.so a white person could be a ******.there will always be racism till the end {if there is}of time.there will be people die from it-hurt from it-and teased for it just teach your family well and let them know we all bleed red and color fuck color we are all fucked up.

I was just watching an episode of Seinfeld in which he goes into a bakery and buys a black n' white cookie. he then proceeds to say "black always goes with white, it's too bad it doesn't work that way with the races"

of course, it would never work, the judge and jury would be afarid that they would also be called racist. ****** is just a word, those dickheads need a thicker skin.

 

Outside of maybe the aryan brotherhood and the kkk, it's pretty much universally accepted that he was out of control, and his comments racist.

So unless you belong to one of those fine upstanding organizations you're pretty much in the minority here.

I think it was also the vehemence and the crazed way in which he flipped out. It wasn't in a joking, semi-snide manner that could have been overlooked. Know what I mean? If I said the word to a good black friend of mine, he'd just look at me like "wtf" or "haha". It's not the same as shouting it out with the kind of rage he did infront of an audience.

There's also professionalism that some people need to consider. Comedy doesn't mean total shit attitude, nor should it be an excuse for humiliating yourself the way Michael did.

I was personally saddened by the whole thing. Indifference to this behaviour is even worse. If it had been anyone else even Jerry who had flipped out, it would have been just as fucked up but less personally shocking. Kramer was always my favourite. I'm surprised to hear some of the responses in this thread too. The world isn't as sheltered and candyland as you think.

Someone brought up "fatness" and a few extra pounds, being called names throughout your childhood. Just because you have gone through some shit, it doesn't discredit the shit OTHERS have to go through in their life either. I know first hand what it's like to get racist remarks and to suffer violence for no reason whatsoever than because of my ethnicity.

 

People say some pretty stupid things when they are angry. It does not neccessarily mean he's racist, but maybe it does, i dunno. Either way, it was pretty dumb and classless on his part. Definitely.

That's really sad. To be honest- He really isnt funny...I feel sorry for him...he looked like he was on something.

 

Michael(Abbie) Richards also happens to be jewish. this is what western society fails to often times see. jews have a very well known superiority complex over everyone else and they hold it over the heads of others. this is not to say ALL jews have a superiority complex in general. but it is ingrained into their culture and outlook on life. the whole notion of them being god's chosen people is racist and doesn't wash with me. here's the hypocrisy, joan rivers and the rest of the yalmika wearing crowd in hollywood went off on mel gibson. yet you never saw a single one of them go off on cosmo kramer. why is this? because he's one of them.it's perfectly okay in the eyes of hollywood to make fun of us goyim, but when someone says anything "anti semitic" they get pissed. as far as aboloshing the n word goes that is censorship. i don't think anyone should abolish any word. we might as well abolish mark twain novels if that's the case. if that's the case we might as well abolish allen ginsberg and william s burroughs literature because they were both well known pederasts. while we're at it let's abolish gangster rap music because it's known for being derogatory of women and white people. let's abolish the bible because it has passages where it mentions it's patriarchs and prophets being involved in criminal acts and violence. lets' abolish the babylonian talmud because it says it's okay for the pharisees to have sex with young children and says derogatory things about gentiles and christians. censorship is a tool of those who hate free speech .if you don't think anyone should be allowed to say any certain word then you should pack your bags and move to a country that doesn't grant us first amendment rights to free speech. yeah it is two faced that blacks can use nigga so casually but when whites or anyone else that isn't black say it as ****** it's a hate word. wether it's hatred of a certain word or hatred of a certain people it's still hatred and you'll never abolish it no matter how hard you try. even if you ban people from saying it they'll still think it.

 

I think Michael Richards is a very edgy comedian, and is always right there on the boarder of tact and humor. Being cutting edge can sometimes hurt people who don't expect what someone says. I think he is a brilliant comedian, and just spewed some trash in the name of progress. He is a bit manic. I won't rush to punish the guy just because of some words he said. Maybe like Ilijah said it has something to do with his Jewish heritage, I don't know. I don't look at people by their religeon or ethnicity, I guess it's a shortcoming on mypart. Worse things have been said, but Michael Richards is adored by many people and it came as a shock. It made him be more human and not a superstar. Let me know if you disagree, these are just some of my thoughts.
