The protesters have no clear mission. They are not a homogenized group. Their ideas do not stand as one.

There are amongst their ranks people who think like you also.

Imaginary being, the consumer defaulted on things that they NEEDED, like houses and cars and college educations, because they had to get them, and bankers and politicians and CEO's took things that everyone could and should have, and made them unaffordable and set up pyramid schemes that people had to deal with to get these things they needed.

And no, occupy is not just protesting bankers, they're protesting the fusion of the banks and government, of big business and government, of banks and other big business, protesting poiticians who, aside from maybe selling out to banks, blatantly, openly DO NOT repersent the people (such as on marijuana reform, where 70% of the country supports medical marijuana but the DEA and obama administration's justice department has a stranglehold on everything and won't let go, to save face and keep making money) and this is all the way down to a local level, where, for instance, DA's walk all over people, using things like the war on drugs to have power they never should have or have had and sending the most people to jail and prison in the WORLD, largely for things that should not even be illegal, we have (have had? probably still do) more drug offenders locked up than ALL PRISONERS IN WESTERN EUROPE......

It's about general social justice, there is a coalition of EVERYONE in power working to increase their power, and because power is relative, this involves simultaneously decreasing everyone else's power, with things like foreclosures that will never hurt the bankers, even if they can't pay for their own mansions.

I'm late for class, I'll be back to rant more later.

*edit* also, the US is failing because of government debt, but it's government fused with banking/business debt. Also, huge amounts of the problem are caused by US companies selling out US workers and going to china, while selling things for almost as much here. They're gutting us, and sending the twitching corpse to the chinese for organ harvesting.

Woodie Guthrie would disagree that the Baby boomers were the first generation to have that realization. (I would disagree that any generation generally realizes that.)
"The system is stacked against the common people." has been know all the way back to before Wat Tyler.

"When Adam delved and Eve span
    Who was then a gentleman?"

In one county alone, we are having 1,000 foreclosures a month.
At this rate, in ten years that will be 120,000 booted out of their homes in that one county.
So what's to stop this from happening?
Right now, nothing! We are on a path that will put all of us on the street.

I just realized that most homes have two or three people, so that is 120,000 families homeless.
realistically 360,000 people which is about half the county's population.
And you can't really say it's not your problem.
If 100,000 breadwinners are taken down, your house will continue its downward slide in value.
Your grocery store? No one left to staff it.
    Your county government?
With no property tax revenue, there's no money for police or fire.
Watch houses burn down, armed gangs roaming the subdivisions (this is already starting).
Oh, yeah, it affects all of us.

    How? As I recall it:
The people elected Reagan because they liked his anti-government regulation talk. He began the deregulation process that has reached at ridiculous levels and they loved and still honor him for it.

Were they fooled? Irrelevant. No matter what induced their emotions, in their hearts and minds, the people (most of them) respected him and many still honor him.

(Unlike the consensus minded Occupy movement, most of the 99% believe in the righteousness of a representative system of governance.)

The failure of deregulation and the obscene wealth disparity are becoming painfully obvious. But I think that Occupy is couching its message in a way that most of the 99% (who believe in 2 party representative government) have trouble hearing.

The people with the money unfortunately. Actually they want political indecision and conflict. 4 billion dollars were spent on the last presidential election alone.

That wouldn't be happening if people didn't live beyond their means and weren't greedily trying to pay for a house they couldn't affored. They should have just got a trailer or something then no one could kick them out of it 'cause they'd own. Let me guess. You're now going to say that I should feel compassion for people who can only afford to live in a trailer?

i'm not being rude - however you are

to reiterate my opinion is in my previous post.

and it's unfair to say i'm the one moaning - i am protesting a protest ffs :frown:

i just feel it's the wrong one.

what of a persons right to free speech!???? christ..

    i'll explain once more though

personal prosperity steers a persons decision-making process regarding a persons decision on who to vote for

people wanted benefits, cheap frills and money for nothing

it makes sense... it's business as usual am i right??

id (my silly freud joke) argue a persons needs and wants are very important.

so anyways - political parties negated proper fiscal and monetary management

britain broke the bank for this power - otherwise the voter would look elsewhere

it's funny really.. it's parody of the capitalist machine (a whopping 50% off!!!!)

labour.. conservative... republican.. now democratic??? - FUCK! MY BRAIN!! WHY DO THINGS KEEP CHANGING!!!!

    there's hardly any affinity

hence - the solution is to just give people cheap shit

why hello sub prime mortgage market!

    .. tweak tweak..

ultimately - if you didn't demand a better quality of living for yourself, from your government

    why bother to vote???

you can think i'm an asshole - but the truth is i'm just as worried as the next person

    what about my generation?

Not everybody being foreclosed bought beyond their means..... The house was easily affordable until they lost their job and could not find another form of employment.

Or are you saying they should have seen that coming as well.

again with the "people wanted it" thing. You really believe this? This is your real problem. Lack of compassion and faith in humanity.

I'm so sorry for you dude. Your generation is most likely fucked...

Out sourcing, downsizing, age-discrimination, CEO wanted another jet...... Take your pick.
