I Have Lost So Many Friends Over The Last 12 Months To, Cancer, Stroke,

Heart Attack, Aids, Suicide, etc etc.

As Such I Feel Your Approach To Life Is In Serious Need Of A"Reasessment".

Being abused as a child at 6 entitles us to seek revenge on those who wrong us, you seem to think.

Allowing someone to touch you, remaining silent and present, not telling them to stop it, not simply leaving!

Agreeing to go back to his place! Agreeing to sit on his bed!

This isn't the first time i've heard the sexually abused prattle on like their the only human to have ever suffered.

well the only interesting thing you said was that 'abused' people are vulnerable and easily coerced. Maybe so. At the end of the day, he apparently conjured up whatever free-will he had left and said no. and they didn't have sex.

 

yes, and he should never have been put in that position by a councellor....

 

A major ingredient is missing in all of this as I see it. What does the word counselor mean in this incident. A counselor can range from a classically trained licenced MD, PhD, MSW professional all the way down to some poor kid whom the school gave a couple of days of training and the title of counselor. A lot of schools and institutions are making haste to address Gay Bullying. They have a few days of training offered to another student who may or may not be gay....may or may not be trained in the field of mental health counseling.
So herein is the futility of all of this discussion. we don't have all the facts. if this counselor was in fact a trained professional then he did indeed violate boundaries by even asking the OP to come to his room. If the counselor is just some kid with the title stuck on him after a few days training then we have two victims. Lurd has posted a photo of himself and he is indeed a very attactive young man. If the "counselor" is another young man without proper training and experience he may not understand the concept of boundaries well enough to respond professionally. We don't know what this "counselor" is.

We also have tried this "counselor" without his side of the story...we don't know what the unwanted touch really was or really meant. If it was a groin grope thats one thing, if its a hand on the shoulder or a pat that was meant to comfort or reassure then thats another issue.

This has been a really polarizing post setting good people on both sides against each other. I've left it open because it has allowed a lot of feelings and expeiences to be shared and the sharing is a good thing. The name calling and animosity doesn't have a place so it needs to stop or I'll stop it.

There a learning opportunity here folks and that is; get all of the fact before attempting to make a decision. Two lives are in play here, the OP who reported being hurt and the "counselor" who may now be looking at prison time and a lifetime of registration as a sex offender. If the counselor was just a kid with no training who got a title stuck on himself after a weekend seminar then he too is a victim because the response to "SEX OFFENDER" is usually extremely harsh.

We either get all the facts or we can't have a meaninful discussion. We sure have no business making judgments until we know what we are talking about.

 

I don't think what the councilor did was right. Maybe he didn't know. Maybe he's a little messed up too, abused even. Punishment hardens people, it never really works. the wrong-doing is punishment in and of itself. I keep saying this...everyone makes mistakes. yet most people have this lynch mob mentality, which i can't stand.

 

yes, it never occured to me that the councellor might be an untrained student... good point, and i would agree that if that is indeed the case, then there have been two victims here...
