It is extremely rare that I'll listen to country music. But I'm not closed off to it either. I have heard some really good country music songs. It's just not a genre of music I specifically seek out.
I don't especially care for the over-produced versions of country, either ... but then I could say the same about over-produced versions of rock. I guess what I like is stuff that I would consider heartfelt and authentic ... rockabilly, blues, bluegrass, old-time country. Of the modern country performers, I like Brad Paisley, Shania, Dixie Chicks, and a few others, but my real favorite is Alison Krauss. She has the sweetest, purest voice I've ever heard.
a lot of people mimic eachother.. but you can find some good stuff like i really dig john jacob nile, that man was oddly good.
Typical lyric themes: Country Music - I left my wife and started drinking beer. Blues - My wife left me and I started drinking bourbon whiskey. Jazz - I cheated on my wife and started drinking vodka martinis. Classic Rock - I left my girlfriend and started doing heavy drugs. Rap - I shot my wife and got ass-fucked in prison.
I listen to mostly: NPR, trashy talk radio, then 80's alternative, country, which I like a lot,but usually just songs, not entire CD's and finally on Fridays, I listen to the 12:00 80's and 90's throw back rap mix.
This band plays kind of a mix of both folk and country, Devil Makes Three: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE4zdYtHJG0 Some songs are more folky and others have more of a bluegrass feeling to it :cheers2:
I don't like country. Not unless you're counting the country pop music like Taylor Swift. haha, that's what I was going to say!
That would be good. Of course, the guy has to wait until he gets out of prison to get that. :cheers2: This joke is a work in progress. I didn't even cover all the types of music.
i think it makes perfect sense. my generalizations are totally fine by me, but i hate generalizations from other people. what's to "???" about?
