Dissonance then, depends on its' relation to harmony. Harmony does not depend on dissonance, but is an adjunct to resonance.
I think harmony is dependent on dissonance for those with dissonance. Perhaps only a few of us experience it a lot. It's relative to our own experience of internal harmony.
The minor third, once considered dissonant, was eventually accepted as consonate. Actually, its now considered an imperfect consonance. Resonance and consonance... not quite the same thing, but related.
