thats how i feel. too many people support what they would never take part in. i am against the war. i don't want to go, i don't want others to have to go. over 3,000 coalition soldiers dead & 20,000 wounded, over 30,000 middle easteners dead.....its gotten very bad....people need to open their eyes....
Retards like wackyiraqi are the last people you'll ever see joining the service..they sit home and collect the blood money and run their mouths. That's why the shit they post is a bunch of rambling bullshit without a cause or a direction..just like the war in Iraq that silverspooon Bush started, you know..the draft dodger.
A cross sectional cluster sample survery is NOT AN ACTUAL COUNT. This number is absurd. The scientific community disagrees, and have the data, methods, and qualifications to back it up. Sorry, but you're simply wrong, and don't have the qualifications to say otherwise.
I do not love the war and I wish the United States would have taken different action against Iraq. The money and resources wasted on Iraq could have been much better spent. Why do you assume I love Bush and love the war? You're right! There is much better money in private contracting. More freedom too. But really I could only dream of the lavish life you live. Every two weeks receiving a minimum wage paycheck. Scoring a bag of weed on the way home from work. Slapping up the old lady then smoking a bowl. Bitching about your countrys problems all night on a liberal hippy forum. Makes you feel like you are making a difference. It is not so much the method as the sample chose. The results from this estimate are bullshit because they extrapolated a sample which was not representative of the country as a whole. The Lancet study number is more than FOUR times the amount that the Iraq Ministry of Health announced less than two weeks ago. We are looking at a difference of HALF OF A MILLION deaths. The difference is that the greater number is an estimate derived from sampling, and the lesser number is derived from actual body counts. Is it possible for a country to not notice, or miscount 500,000 of its own civilian casualties? For years the international media has reported daily the number of deaths from Coalition operations and insurgent attacks. Again, for the Lancet study numbers to hold water, we would of had to have roughly 500 deaths every single day since March 2003. Is it possible for not only the Iraq Ministry of Health to not notice this, but also human rights orgs and media outlets? Both methods have a probability for error, but to think the difference would be this great is obscene. For the record, I am not saying that 100,000 is acceptable. I am not saying that 50,000 is acceptable. The Iraq war has caused an alarming amount of civilian casualties and has negatively affected the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Don't be so quick to think that I do not know what is going in Iraq and am here to preach that the war is just, the lives of the Iraqi people are better, and that the condition of the country is anything but nearing catastrophe.
wackyiraqi Just what I thought..you're goldmimining on no bid contracts and you could care less about our troops or the Iraqi's..in other words..you're a war criminal, liar and a murderer. The rest of your bullshit post doesn't deserve a response..it's the same ole silverspoonlying, bullshit rants.
I know this should belong in the joke section, but has anybody heard this one? Q. How many times does a pollock use the word "silverspoon" in a post? For the life of me I cannot remember the punchline, and I don't know why that joke popped into my head. Anyhow, back to business... This was just announced today. BAGHDAD, Iraq - The United Nations said Wednesday that 3,709 Iraqi civilians were killed in October, the highest monthly toll since the March 2003 U.S. invasion and another sign of the severity of Iraq’s sectarian bloodbath. 3,709 civilians killed. The highest monthly toll since the March invasion. If that number was sustained for the 44 months since the invasion began, that would put the death toll at 163,196. That is far short from the 650,000+ that the Lancet study estimated. According to the Lancet study, the number of deaths that would had to have been sustained would have been 14,773 every month for the 44 months since the invasion began. We are looking at a difference of 3,709 vs 14,773. That is a significant difference. Again, the Lancet number is more than FOUR TIMES the amount released by the Iraq Ministry of Health, United Nations, and other private parties. The actual number is still a horrible number. It does not make this conflict any more acceptable than if the number was 650,000+. However, we should be thankful that the Lancet study has provided an inflated number, despite of its lesser political weight. Here is a link to the findings released by the United Nations. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15848198/
whacky you can say whatever you want, you have no life and even people on hipforums hate you, that's pretty pathetic. Why don't you go jerk off or something instead of bothering good meaning people on this forum you troll.
What's wrong with the people on Hipforums? Most of the people here are kindhearted, well intentioned people. I don't think you have any right insulting them the way you do. Sooner or later you are going to have to come to the realization that you are the minority. That your outlandish claims have proven to be fraudulent. You really need to take a break from these websites you are involved in. Having this manic obsession at such a young age may cause some serious psychological problems further down the road if they are not addressed soon.
"These idiots make Saddam look like a priest....." You shouldn't soil saddam with the mantle of homosexual pedophiles.
"Cut and run"??? No, we should "leave and apologize". To those who quote the Pottery Barn metaphor, I offer the following thought. When someone spills wine on your shirt, their ineffecually trying to blot the stain only makes things worse. It rarely cleans the shirt and always pisses off the wearer. The best they can do is apologize and leave. "Leave & apologize"!
Whacky, you know this is a hippy forum, which means there are going to be views here which you may not be able to handle psychologically with such a young naive mind. You know this forum is going to be 99% anti-war and against the foreign policy and other policies of the US gov. but you come on here and try to shill and post things that will supposubly "prove us wrong" in your mind, so what does this conclude? it concludes that you want to start fights and argue with people over the internet because you are too much of a....to talk shit in person,so you need to do it anonymously over the internet.
lol way to twist my words bro. What I meant was people on Hipforums are very nice people for the most part and very open minded and even all of them can't stand your bull, that is what I think is pretty sad. Will it pyschologically screw with my head that we have criminal elements inside our government that carry out terror attacks on US citizens? yeah it probably will, but atleast i can accept the truth and accept what this world really is instead of being naive and trying to lie to myself and blame some other group of people, because the muslims all want to kill us and destroy western society completely and nuke us and Israel off the earth right? black and white as that, nobody in the US government or other western governments could ever benefit from terror attacks on their own people could they? don't be so naive dude.
3,709 civilians killed. The highest monthly toll since the March invasion. If that number was sustained for the 44 months since the invasion began, that would put the death toll at 163,196. That is far short from the 650,000+ that the Lancet study estimated. What the scientists demonstrated is the fact that the media is able to cover only a small fraction of deaths in this war. Iraqi bloggers have reported that only very rarely do attacks make the news anywhere.
They do not have to make the news to be counted. As in most countries, a body is the death of a person, which is recorded, a certificate of death is produced, and the families next of kin is notified. The manner in which Iraq handles a death of one of its citizens is not much different as you would know in America. Dead bodies are bought to morgues and identification and cause of death are recorded. Provincial information is transferred and recorded at the Ministry of Health. Not everything in the world can be found from behind a computer or television screen. Not yet anyways.
wackyiraqi True but things change when another country invades, disbands the military and police and destabalizes the entire country. Oh no of course not....what the hell are you drinking? They don't even have a country left let alone a morgue Yeh right, that's if a suicide bomber doesn't blow ya up or you're kidnapped and beheaded. What in the hell are you talking about? I find it hard to believe that you are really serious..noone is that ignorant
I don't think you can directly extrapolate the data that way, but even so the John Hopkin's study I trust, they use the same methodology that our census bureau and politicians use to gerrymander our nation, so if it works for the one, why doesn't work for the other.... Afterall those that should know state this: My question would be why don't they keep tallies...how do they know how effective they've been if they don't? They do, they just don't want the true number to come out. Something to consider is that the homicide rate for the US stands at over 5% why should we be amazed at high numbers in a war torn country. http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/cius_04/offenses_reported/violent_crime/murder.html
