Hello ladies and gentlemen. Today I will ask you to think about the feeling of nostalgia. Is nostalgia the feeling that we all get from time to time when we encounter something that we have one day experienced in this lifetime? What makes YOU nostalgic? Why is it that even certain colours can make nostalgic and yet nothing edible does? What does nostalgia have in common with the invasive déjà-vu?

    is this true?

i don't get nostalgia very often. but it seems like reminders of good meals past could do it in theory anyway. i'm a huge lover of good food, so i can imagine it would be hard for me to feel nostalgic while i'm eating, just because i'm too engrossed in the current joy of my meal.

I guess that the taste and joy overrides any other feelings. Google the kinds of toys that you used to play with and stare at them. It's not the memories that you may have that may get your mind. It's the feeling of awe. In fact... Nostalgia is just as rare as déjà-vu and you may have to do this for some time. Nostalgia is another invasive feeling but where déjà-vu will not last to long, you will still be able to study the toy and return to the feeling of nostalgia.

that's actually kind of hard to do. the old video games, i still play from time to time today. so there's no real nostalgia there. and most of my other old toys were too generic to find online. but i did have a good set of legos. i'm sure i had this one, although it seemed so much bigger at the time (which i think is at least related to what you're talking about).

conveniently, i found it on a site that lists the value of old lego sets. apparently it's worth $28.50. which is probably about what my mom paid for it 30 years ago.

of course, if you're talking about how much the memory is worth, then we're back to priceless. i had an entire section of my basement that was dedicated to my lego kingdom, and even though i haven't thought about it for years, i remember exactly where this castle was in my little lego land. down the stairs, across the basement to the left. across from where the mighty max toys lived (also forgot about the until right now), and kitty corner from my modern city area, where all the car toys and transformer type things lived.

my parents still live there, but i haven't actually been down in the basement in a few years. as far as i know, that room's pretty much wall to wall junk storage now.

I once dreamt I was walking up a fairly familiar street and looked left in a shop window where I saw a fish tank with a single fish in it. I woke at this point. I then got dressed, left the house, and less than an hour later was walking that same street with no thought of the dream whatsoever. All of a sudden the old déjà vu feeling overtook me, I looked left and there was the fish! It was as though I was back in the dream.

Had I subconsciously registered the fish on an earlier occasion and then, just as subconsciously, fooled myself into surprising myself with it by way of a dream in between followed through with déjà vu? The people I told about this seemed to think something of the kind. I sure didn't! At least, I didn't know what to think. :-D

    My only prophetic dream. lol
