saying Daft Punk is dance is same as saying Marilyn Manson/The Animals/Run DMC/The Prodigy is rock. it doesn't really say much if you don't know the band and the music they make is hardly similar. they're not a pure genre and classifying their music to the major category their subgenre(s) belong(s) to is reducing it to one dimension ignoring all the other qualities that in the end are more definitive than that largest genre where they part from all other musical styles. Daft Punk's music has elements of funk, trip hop, trance, and the style that most adequately describes their music is house. as a comparison Madonna is 100% dance. yeah -- her and Daft Punk's music is just so much alike! go and educate yourself a little before speaking up about things you've only superficially heard about.
