the world is always on the verge of collapse and things can't ever get any worse. until they do. i've got the "what the hell, fuck it!" mentality this week. my head is tired.
No, I'm just saying that maybe humanity isn't worth worrying about. Yes, we are intelligent, well informed, and the way things really are appear obvious to us. Most people are far too ignorant, and thus, why give a shit? It's not worth caring about. If humanity is intelligent enough to deserve freedom, then let it come. If we are too ignorant and are destroyed, than I say we deserve it, and I leave it at that. Yea, it's a fucked up world and some fucked up assholes have gotten control of the power, and they probably are bent on enslaving the entire world. They are sick fucking pieces of shit, power hungry and control freaks. Why else would they want to lead? They are too concerned, and I think the biggest choice we can make is to simply not let it concern us, and then, they have no control over us. and KC, i just looked at your photo gallery, you have an amazing kid and an amazing husband. very lucky, you.
That's easy for God to say! I know you've got a backup species all ready to take over our roles in Gaian ecology...
I don't think that pointing out the awful truth about what's going on is "doomsaying" - I'm not necessarily saying that there will be thermonuclear war or anything - I think the ruling elite are far too organized for that. What I'm personally concerned about are the thousands of innocent human beings who are being slaughtered for nothing, the very real loss of our ecosystems and biodiversity, and the spread of spiritual death that is the "American way of life." I think, rather than being close to the "end of the world" or something, we are far closer to the creation of an all too real "Brave New World" where all humanity is forced to follow one vision of human existence (namely that of the capitalist ruling elite), where nature is crushed beneath the boot of "development," and where life is divided between mindless "work" and consumption of goods. I don't think this is some crazy paranoid scenerio - it's happening. On the road to this future, of course, we're also seeing insane warfare and the advent of horrific disease in developing countries - and the ensuing notion that the only solution to this is to "drag these people kicking and screaming into the future" (as is the popular phrase). What we aren't noticing is that this "future" that we are presently living in - this "future" that we, the "civilized" world are offering - comes complete with the loss of most of what it means to be a human being. That is what I fear, and what I am fighting - not some sci-fi image of armageddon - but the REALITY that I see around me every single day in this country.
How very true, but sad. There are many who stand up and protest, but as you may have noticed, they don't bother to count them anymore. Just like they can't be bothered to count votes accurately anymore. Why bother having elections? Indeed we, the people, have been disenfranchised, scapegoated & marginalized. And I agree with LW however that there IS a difference between having Kerry in office than having Bush in office. Think about it... If it REALLY didn't matter to the power elite who is president, then WHY was it so important for BUSH to win in 2004? I still believe there can be a contest for power in America, despite my dismay at the lack of diversity in political views among America's parties. But I see so many differences in Kerry's philosophy than Bush's that I think this election will make a difference to America, and everyone of us will be affected (in a more positive way). And Rat, that is possibly the best thing that I've read from you, so far. Keep it up! BTW, when I mentioned us being scapegoated, I specifically mean the condemnation of the whole "liberal" ideology as being the cause of ALL our problems by the right wing, when everyone knows the opposite is true
Damn, LW, I LOVE reading your take on this (and everything else)! So right on! The problem is the "everyday reality" of the elite is very different from ours, so unless they come out of their silk lined cocoons and experience the rest of the world, they have an unbalanced view of life, and don't understand the consequences of their everyday actions. And this is true in varying degrees for everyone (esp. Americans). I was just saying to a friend today how I'd like to see a law passed that requires anyone who runs for public office on the National level to have at least visited & spent time in OTHER COUNTRIES. They should see & experience life in Europe & perhaps at least one "third world" country before even qualifying for a leadership post. Someone like Bush would've been disqualified right from the start. If we had REAL innovative leadership, this world could be radically different. Sometimes I wonder what life would be like if say we took all those billions going to war in Iraq and on "defense" & put it to solve some really important worldwide problems like hunger & clean war or AIDS. Imagine the benefits that would accrue. Instead of the world spending so many billions on oil for polluting vehicles, if we put just a small fraction of that into renewable sustainable power, we could probably be self-sufficient in energy in a few years. But no one has the guts to standup to those in power who are the same ones profiting from oil. If I were president I would put America to work to become fossil fuel free within 10 years. If it takes a Trillion dollars it would be worth it, but I have a feeling the technology is already under wraps waiting for the oil to run out. The oil companies will then suddenly have a new technology & fuel to sell everyone...
we dont need to be fucking led... ill lead myself... most definitely, i dont want to be led by these greedy rich white fascists. these wars exist to benefit capitalism... every war that has existed has pretty much been to secure the earth for capitalism and ensure the rich and powerful that their wealth will not be taken from them. this is why i fucking hate libertarianism... these people think they are fighting the cause... they think that they are doing what is right for humanity... because they are fighting the usual conservative social issues that they see as wrong... but they leave themselves open to supporting the greedy capitalist system... that is all the empires want from us... because the only thing they care about, is securing their wealth (because only the super wealthy run these nations)... the reason a lot of the world hates us is because our totally ignorance to the situations our corporations are putting through the rest of the world, possibly even their own families... they are fighting the system... and over here, people are thinking they are helping them, when the reality is that they couldnt be hurting them more... its practically impossible for anyone to agree with the conservative social issues that once faced the world... freedom is not given by governments, but is given by life... we must stand up to the worlds rich elite, and we must learn to co-exist with eachother WITHOUT exploiting the fuck out of eachother. We need to work for one another, for the sake of helping eachother, rather than the sake of amassing wealth... it is possible, many cultures and societies have existed like this before... the native americans... all of which were usually slaughtered by those who wish to build empires of wealth, based on greed. How are we going to change the world, when it is only the ultra wealthy that control the world... how will we end wars unless we fight to end the greed that has overtaken all governments? They want us to die, so they can get richer. It's as simple as that... and they will pass insane social controls over us, to distract us from the real problem: the capitalist system.
Yeah, but it's also about domination and a push towards a one-world government. But yes, it is rooted primarily in not capitalism, but an exploitation of capitalism. And you think the Democrats are any better? I am a libertarian in my philosophies, but I don't belong to the Libertarian Party. And I don't necessarily agree with their economics. But I feel that capitalism is better than communism, which is nothing more than slavery. It has proven far more exploitative than capitalism, even though it's essentially the same in that you have a few people on the top in control of everyone else. Name one time when communism has worked effectively? It would definitely never work in this society, so it's really nothing more than wishful thinking. That's partly to blame. Agreed. It's a no-win situation, really. The best thing to do is spread the word to people so they can open their eyes to the bigger picture, and then maybe something can be done.
how would there be anything but an exploitation of capitalism? No, I dont think democrats are better. They are the same evil, different bullshit. Comparing communism with slavery doesnt seem to make any sense with me... and i dont see how it has ever been more exploitive than capitalism... and most communists don't agree with, or want in anyway, the empires that had labled themselves communists to use people for their own gain. some native american tribes practiced communism effectively, that is, until they were raped and murdered by capitalists... but in this society it wont work until we spread more insight and intelligence around the country about what exactly communism is, and what it isnt... and how to avoid being a whore to an empire... i am more of an anarcho-communist myself, as my own utopian ideal... but for any change, right now, its nothing but a utopian ideal... and wishful thinking... i think communism has a better chance of working effectively than capitalism has of not being exploitive... and... enslaving Yep.
The world is a very dark place today if you care to believe the news and the rumurs and lies that are being spread. Doubtless the dark guys have their plans for control, but in reality this world has never had so much light shed upon it. Someone mentioned a global spiritual awakening. This is exactly what is happening as we speak. Everyone in the world will be given multiple chances to awaken, and eventually we'll all be living as one. This is going to happen soonder than you may think. I know for a fact that we will all be awakened and the light will be victorious by the year 2012. Yes, only eight years from now. I can imagine that this world will go through some hard times before then, but the light will win by 2012. That's all im really sure of. Right now there are numerous forces battling for control over our planet, and no matter which one has the upper hand, the eventual outcome is inevitable. Good will always triumph over evil. So no matter what troubles plague humanity in the coming years, always remember the inevitable victory of light,a nd the year 2012.
good and evil do not exist, they are only subjective to the opinions of yourself.. the whole 2012 thing is bullish
I think he's right. The light will finally radiate from all of us, maybe not as soon as 2012, but i think that it will be some sort of awakening of consciousness, at the least. i guess the fascists are getting desperate, knowing they are going to lose, so they are gonna try to destroy the world. Hmm, sounds a lot like Revelations. The sad thing is, it is the 'followers' of Jesus who are the ones who are supporting the evil bastards.
Actually, I've heard a lot of real scientific speculation as to 2012. As it turns out, that year Earth will be passing through some sort of magnetic field of "galactic energy" or something like that. Kind of strange, but I found if off a reliable source. I'd tried to find it it, but it's impossible to search for anything regarding 2012 without being bombarded with 100 bullshit sites for every one credible site.
On the Mayan Calendar 2012 is the beginning of the Mayan Sixth World, the end of the Fifth being 1987. Many prophecies speak of the year 2012. The world is coming to peace very soon. The cosmic ballet is soon ending. The earth will be restored to paradise once more, at which point creation will vibrate upward and we will all move on to the fourth density of spiritual being. Some say that the trials we face on earth are so grueling that we will move right on to fifth density. It is said that compared to these places, where we are now (third density), would seem like toture. These higher levels of being may be some people's idea of "heaven". You dont have to agree with me, but I know it is true. This information came from a spirit called Ra, who chanelled through a person named Carla Rueckert, who was a member of a psychic organization. The organization wrote a book on their findings, much of which can be read online here.
What's with the 2012 stuff? I feel like I've stepped into a Kurt Vonnegut novel. *looks around for the Trafalgarians*
What makes it even more of dark times is that (Supposubly) 50% of the country wants this moron in the office. He lied to the entire country about WMD, and when all the soldiers were over there, dying for his lie, he changed the course of the war to "Freeing the Iraqi people". It went from saving ourselves from an imminent threat, to just going to over to Iraq to Free them, for no REAL reason at all. Why Bush, if you are SO bent on helping people in 3rd world countries, did you not go to Sudan, where hundreds are being slaughtered and killed. Why did you not go to Africa, where 2/3rds of the population has Aids and the whole continent is suffering as we speak? Why did you not enter those countries, where Their suffering is IMMINENT, Saddam did have to be dealed with, but he was NO imminent threat, we could have taken years to diplomatically help the country, to take along allies with us and try to settle the problem, there was NO imminent threat, but of course Bush and his Friends had to rush to war, this is the ultimate argument against the war because if Bush believed something needed to be done, and TRULY felt he needed to Free the Iraqi people, he would have been straight about their being NO imminent threat, and that we were going to take our time, but NO, there was SOMETHING else bush wanted, maybe it was oil, maybe it was just to get America's foot in the middle east after the fall of the USSR, or maybe it was something even deeper me and you don't even begin to think about. Whatever it was, it was something, and its COMPLETELY obvious that the Bush admin. did not go to war for the right reasons, and for the benefit of mankind. And after ALL this, 50% (Of the 50% that vote of course...and how can you blame them, look at the choices) of the voters want this moron in office again, its hysterical and horrifying at the same time, and hysteria is a good word, because if this fuckface is voted in again, that is what the next four years will be. Peace and Love, Dan
