AHAHAHAHA! The most entertaining part of "magic" is listening to people who believe it. The levitation thing is simple really. Notice how he always gets people to stand a certain distance away? He simply has holes in the bottom of his shoes, and mirrors that come out of the soles when he does the trick. Notice how he always puts his hands on the sides of his legs before he levitates? Once he takes his hands off his legs he never moves his feet until the trick is done, that is because he releases the mirrors in his shoes, the mirrors reflect the street around his feet, so when he stands on his toes in his soleless shoes it appears to be just more street under his feet. Notice how when he collapses after the trick his feet are always at a weird angle so that they are still flat on the ground, that is because he doesn't want people to see the holes and mirrors in his shoes. I never saw the bird trick, but I saw him revive a fly. Another very simple trick, anyone with a can of Dust-off and a fly can do it. He freezes the fly, well, not quite freezes, he cools it to almost freezing. When an insect's body temperature is lowered the insect goes into a coma like state. Reviving the creature is simple, he just holds it in his hand, shakes it and blows on it, this raises the fly's body temperature back to normal and it comes out of it's coma. A bird would be harder but I suspect either a drugged bird or two birds that are switched. The bum's coffee turning to change? Really simple. The bum is in on it. The cup already has change in it, and coffee is poured over the change, covering it up. There is a hole in the bottom of the cup and a bag or another cup under the cup to catch the coffee. When the bum gets his cue he releases the coffee, it drains out and leaves only change. Real magic? I don't think so. Real magicians never draw attention to themselves
I disagree with the mirror explanation. I've seen a few times inwhich he had different people wave their hands under his feet while he was levitating. I dunno how he does it, I'd like to think that he can do it for real, but I'll never know. I have always wondered if it would be possible for magicians(on their own stages, that is) to use magnets. My brother bought a tiny one that is so magnetic that if you drop it it will fly across the room to the nearest piece of metal.. it's weird. Anyhow, could magicians use the opposite effect to propel themsleves into the air?
What's happened to him lately? It's been well over a year since I last heard his name mentioned. Has he overdone it and got himself killed?
Ever since David Blaine suspended himself in a box and starved for however many days it was, I have not been interested in his work whatsoever. He sold out big time. I find Derren Brown's work much more intriguing, especially when playing mind games with psychologists. He's great!
