I'm starting to get a big fed up with the never ending fapping over Bowie in the media. Radio 6 are now having a Bowie week to commemorate his death (and what would have been his 70th birthday) and I'm like, are we going to have an international Ziggy Stardust day every new year now? OK he was a good singer/songwriter, he was a top bloke, enigmatic and creative and down to earth and had a good sense of morality. But he's not a demi-god. Blackstar was pretty mediocre, so stop saying it was one of the best albums of 2016! It wasn't even in the top 100. The Next Day was better IMO I had to turn Radio 6 of just now because some woman, a bohemian no doubt was on espousing some of her poetry inspired by the late great... she's talking profundities, but all I can hear is wank wank wank. Enough's enough alright. What's it going to be like when Paul McCartney dies, or Robert Plant or Keith Richards or Mick Fleetwood or Iggy Pop or any of the scores of geriatric rockers who are all on the verge of popping their clogs, and could go at any time. Let us say our goodbyes, then get on with our lives and herald a new age of music. Because despite what many of the stereotypical hardcore vinyl appreciation contingency like to constantly remind us, there is actually still a lot of really good music coming out these days, in fact if anything there's more. Things do ch-ch-ch-change don't you know.
Yes OK but music is What it is today because of people like Bowie ! not only that But they Stand the test of time and that's why they deserve the respect and adoration they get on their passing I also listen to a lot of music and like to get turned on to what's new What Do you want people to do , Say ok he is dead now lets forget all about him and his music ? if it was not for those "geriatric rockers" that you mentioned we would be listening the same stuff forever because they STARTED the chance in music + I like Bowie :wheelchair:
To be fair though, it will probably feel like the equivalent of listening to the complete Pink Floyd discography back to back, which everyone has to do at least one time before they die anyway.
Ik ook! But let's put Bowie into perspective. How often do I listen to Bowie compared to other things? Not that much really. He has never really made the impact in my life that people seem to rave on about. People have escalated him into some form of demi-god status partly on the basis he has different coloured eyes. It's a common misconception though that this anomaly in his eyes is down to a rare condition called heterochromia, however in fact it is because someone stabbed him in the eye when he was at school, which to be fair is also quite cool and a bit Grange Hill.
Bowie, the Rolling stones, and a few others, are masters of what they do! Why? Because they have seen, done it all..They survived the system, changed accordingly, and added to their fan base! Hence they will have more following and fans, than bands, singers of the last ten years!...Can't wait till they start releasing the previously unreleased stuff...
Ha Ha ! That's Your perspective Myself I listen to Him quite a bit and so do many other People ! My X wife had Different coloured eyes what has that got to do with anything ?
Sounds like part of the program in Guantanamo I really frickin hate Pink Floyd And yes, everyone does care that I really frickin hate Pink Floyd
Rolling Stones are the ones I dont get, how many "hits" did they actually have, like 3 I dont understand why they are so big
Well sorry to baffle your mind here but its not always about the amount of hit songs of a band that makes them great
Is for me I'm not going to pay $100+ to go see a band where I haveto sit through 9 shit songs for the 3 I like
