Everything I stated IS FACT and you can find it in a history book (I am from the Chicago suburbs... what school did you go to? Do they not teach history there?) Yet, everything I stated was written in the Bible 100's and 1000's of years before the events occured... Prophecy is like a thorn in the side for you isn't?

I do not disagree that parts of the bible are a bit of a history book, a rather biased history book, but history nonetheless. However I would need more than one small chapter that is open to many different interpretations before I could say that it has acuratly predicted the future.

-Keep in mind this was written about 2500 years ago, yet it predicts that Israel would no longer be a divided kingdom in the sense what it was back then Judah and Jerusalem. But rather it states that it would be one nation.

Also keep in mind that in the land of Israel there were to kings or more, that goverened the land... Today there is only king or prime minister that governs the land.

It is true that most Jews do not consider themselves religious. Infact, probably most of them have little knowledge of this prophecy that they fulfill everyday. But that will change in the future. Many of them will turn to God. In regards to peace, peace will come eventually although it seems like it is no where in site. The same could be said for the Soviet Union and the Berlin wall. Most people thought that division would never end and that wall would stay put, but it did come down and so will the wall that is in Jerusalem.

Sorry, as far as I know the Bible is the only thing that can predict the future IN DETAIL with out any errors... Keep studying the Bible's prophecies and you'll have a better grasp of what will happen : )

 

You just don't get it... I am presenting to the evidence why I know the Bible is true and all you say is "I just don't believe Bible." Now that is closed minded...

First, you believe that mere-flawed men wrote the Bible and because only men wrote the Bible the Bible is flawed and contains errors... is that basically what you believe?

Jesusdiedforyou, whether the bible is fiction is a matter for debate; a debate I don't wish to partake. What is not a matter for debate is that the BOOKS of the bible were chosen by men. Some books and chapters were chosen, some were not and were destroyed. Lost forever. What did they contain? What did the Council of Nicea not want the world to know? If it is in fact, the greatest story ever told, why shouldn't we hear ALL of it? Maybe if I knew the entire story I would change my mind about the entire matter. What would an O. Henry story be without it's surprise ending? What if Agatha Christie never revealed the murderer?

The words may not necessarily be flawed. The choices, the incompleteness is flawed. This is NOT a work of fiction, it is historical fact. And these are questions that you and every other theologian cannot answer. So now that you know my issue with the bible...

I've been respectful of you and the other believers by NOT name calling and NOT outright claiming that the bible is a false historical account. I only ask that you pay me the same respect and make an attempt to stick to the topic of this thread.

 

I am sorry that you are in a tough situation right now... however if you are not looking for a debate I suggest you stop spewing anti Christian posts in the Christian forum.

this is coming from a born and raised catholic:

the bible is a book of fables. your faith lies in how you believe them all to be true, no matter how far-fetched and unreal alot of the stories are. still, there is alot of truth to the stories though, but over the years and through countless translations, most of the stories were elaborated over time.

What you posted is what I consider and have identified as the Fall of the Second Roman Empire (aka the Holy Roman Empire, aka the Roman Catholic Church). After nearly 1700 years of domination, I suspect the Church will be bankrupted by lawsuits in the next 50 years.
