i think there should only be a death penalty if the people agree with it. its better than a life sentance... id rather die than be locked up in a cell for my whole life.

Nope. The death penalty is completely hippocritical. You can't say it's wrong to kill and then kill someone because they do so. There are very few countries in the world that still have the death penalty. America is one of the very few that does.

Amnesty International classifies countries in four categories. 76 countries still maintain the death penalty in both law and practice. 91 countries have abolished it completely; 9 retain it, but only for crimes committed in exceptional circumstances, 32 other countries maintain laws permitting the use of the death penalty for ordinary crimes, but have not had an execution in 10 years.

It actually seems more countries have it then don't.

A Gallup International poll from 2000 found that "Worldwide support was expressed in favour of the death penalty, with just more than half (52%) indicating that they were in favour of this form of punishment." A break down of the numbers of support versus opposition: Worldwide 52%/39%, North America 66%/27%, Asia 63%/21%, Eastern Europe 60%/29%, Africa 54%/43%, Latin America 37%/55%, Western Europe 34%/60%

I suggest we keep it. Population control. I would suggest giving them a choice between hard labor and death.

this is not right! just because someone killed another man, does nto meen he can learn and become a better person. hard labor is being a slave, and its worse than death. who should have the right to take away a life? the death penalty is like prison... it doesnt make much sense and takes away someones right to live and be free. for people that believe in hell, if they haev killed someone it is just sending them to hell faster. everyone should be able to start again.

I don´t see death penalty as a punishment but a revenge for the family of the victim. I don´t get why people want to keep it anyway. I think it´s way more justified to put someone in prison and give him another chance or if a person is too dangerous to let him roam free in society, they should be held in acceptable circumstances. people don´t deserve to be killed, not by a fellow citizin, not by the state.

What if it was just left up to the victim's family to decide whether the attacker gets death or not.

my only change would be that the one who decides the fate has to be the executioner.

If you truly believe a person is that big a threat that he must die, then you should have NP killing the man.

Alright, I was mistaken. But those who actually practice the death penelty are quite a bit lower than those who don't at all. The others exist in a seperate category in my mind.

Nobody has the right to take away someone else's life. It is a sacrifice ritual, when you think about it. As has been said, life in prison is a better punishment than dying within seven minutes. Whether it's painful or not. I'd tend to believe it is, since the lizards are cruel creatures, and because they don't allow any type of monitoring to see if it's painful or not.

I could say so much more about this, but I've gotta run.

Yesterday a morning came, a smile upon your face.
Caesar's palace, morning glory, silly human race,
On a sailing ship to nowhere, leaving any place,
If the summer change to winter, yours is no disgrace.

Battleships confide in me and tell me where you are,
Shining, flying, purple wolfhound, show me where you are,
Lost in summer, morning, winter, travel very far,
Lost in losing circumstances, that's just where you are.

Yesterday a morning came, a smile upon your face.
Caesar's palace, morning glory, silly human race,
On a sailing ship to nowhere, leaving any place,
If the summer change to winter, yours is no,
    Yours is no disgrace.
    Yours is no disgrace.
    Yours is no disgrace.

Death defying, mutilated armies scatter the earth,
Crawling out of dirty holes, their morals, their morals disappear.

Yesterday a morning came, a smile upon your face.
Caesar's palace, morning glory, silly human, silly human race,
On a sailing ship to nowhere, leaving any place,
If the summer change to winter, yours is no,
    Yours is no disgrace.
    Yours is no disgrace.
    Yours is no disgrace.

How is State Murder not the same murder as Citizen Murder?.
If the State says it is alright to murder the murderers;what kind of morality does the State teach criminals?:Murder is okay as long as it is sanctioned.

Since we really don't have a firm grasp on what life is, and the real rules behind it, i think you'd have to be pretty reckless to condemn someone to death, no matter what the circumstances. Its just a knee jerk reaction that degrades us all.

How can people be so heartless
How can people be so cruel
Easy to be hard, easy to be cold

How can people have no feelings
How can they ignore their friends
Easy to be proud, easy to say no

Especially people who care about strangers
Who care about evil and social injustice
Do you only care about bleeding crowd
How about a needing friend, I need a friend

How can people be so heartless
You know I'm hung up on you
Easy to be proud, easy to say no

Especially people who care about strangers
Who care about evil and social injustice
Do you only care about bleeding crowd
How about a needing friend, we all need a friend

How can people be so heartless
How can people be so cruel
Easy to be proud, easy to say no
Easy to be cold, easy to say no
Come, on, easy to give in, easy to say no
Easy to be cold, easy to say no
Much too easy to say no

I think the death penalty is a good idea in writing, although I do think it should be changed so that you die exactly as the person you murdered died. But, the problem is, I see no way of knowing, other than a confession, absolutely with no doubt whatsoever that the criminal did it. And I don't think its right to kill an innocent citizen. And, if you're going to be left in jail, it shouldn't be the type of jail they have now, in some cases, its a fucking party. Jails for hardened criminals (murderers, rapists, pedophiles) should be complete silence, no interaction at all, they did something fucked up, make them pay.

But in real life they rather jam pack the jail with ocasional recreation drug users who work hard to pay bills and taxes and just wants to relax a bit on the weekends or even some times in the middle of the week.
