never ever. i am totally against the death penalty. I feel it would be hypoctitical to kill someone for doing the same or anything. And giving a organisation/governent power to kill doesn't really appeal to me. Nobody deserves to die in my opinion, yes there are bad people in the world, but me personally wanting them dead would make me a bad person. michael x
well, wanting them dead would make you human. but would it be justice? i don't really think so. it think it's more vengeance than anything else.
Allowing someone to be tortured or beaten to death by other inmates doesn't seem anymore humane than lethal injection if you ask me. Besides that already goes on heavily in the US prison system, and both innocent and nonviolent people get caught up in it.
For certain crimes, yes...if it can be proven beyond a doubt that the recipient of the death penalty actually committed the crime. Serial rapists, BTK type killers...I just don't have much sympathy for them. Death penalty, or life imprisonment with NO chance for parole...
even for the truly fucked up in the head crazy killers, i'm still not really for the deaht penalty. after all, they're very sick. i'm not going to kill someone just because they're ill and an inconvenience to me. that's not justice, that's still just vengeance.
I agree! My problem with the death sentence is knowing how corrupt our legal system is and how many people die who did not do anything at all. Set Ups and framing etc.
against it... if i did something so terrible, the first thing i would think of doing is dying so that i dont have to live in the memory and guilt of what i did. those fuckers should be locked in an isolated place and be forced to reflect on their actions until it drives them insane to the end of their death. its our revenge.
Dirk: what movie was that? kc: I understand your point. I don't hold a lot of sympathy to people that rape little girls, and chop other people up and shit. Even though I do think overall that our judicial system is way too fucked up and corruptable for a death penalty.
Prison without cells and guards. That would truly be hell on earth. Which would be even more fucked for the victims of our legal system.
Against, we don't have the right to legitimise murder......... Its done everyday in different forms, weather a dream is killed, a soul is destroyed......death is a vague term. Some should be removed from the earth to make it a better place, some could be removed and not one single thing would change or would be missed. We, well not me but mainstream america kills at will. Does any of this make it right? Right and wrong, life and death is simply a matter of perception.
So we all go round doing and eye for and eye? hmm interesting world that would be. To me thats just some crap out of the bible that people like to say because its in there. The way I see it, how can it be right to give permission to do that horrible discusting crime (taking someones life) as a form of punishment for doing the exact same thing. Does the person who makes that decision or carries it out get some kind of pleasure or satisfaction out of it? Do you? Taking someones freedom away is more of a punishment in my opinion than taking there life away.
Its what I call being civilised, are you suggesting that its up to the indivual to decide what the punishment should be. Of course I would feel a lot of hatred if something like this happened to me, but thats what the state should exist for, to have proper justice and not act on revenge. Have you ever asked someone whos been raped before what they think? I can assure you they dont all think that the death sentence is right. Theres more to life than money, and you cant put a price on a life, whatever someone has done. You know I can understand where your coming from and respect that, but I'm strongly against it.
