I'm certain it was a skimmer at the pump.
Sad thing, I've written about how it was done a few times in news articles (old gig), and then proceeded to dump out the info after deadline.
I'd written an article about six months before it happened!

Would you mind sharing the name of the company? I buy vaping supplies online and have no vendor loyalty so I hop around from vendor to vendor, and would prefer to avoid those who've got a history of playing a little too loose with personal/financial data.

I've been out of the IT loop for awhile now, but it sounds vaguely familiar. I am wanting to say that it was spyware that came from storing credit cards on your Facebook and using them on certain Facebook games. I am kind of fuzzy on it though.

Any-who....in addition to running your Malwarebytes download and install the free version of Superantispyware, it finds things Malwarebytes does not. I use Avast free addition for my antivirus, because it's lightweight and has intrusion protection software built in for your browsers (IE, FF, Etc).

I have not used FaceBook in ages, but IMO the facebook apps seems like a horrible idea to me. I read quite a bit about the development a few years ago and to me it seemed like this would be an attractive way to create a honeypot for user info.

Passing any kind of personal information through the internet is a bad idea. I liken it unto a clearly marked and unarmed treasure ship traveling through Somali waters.

^lol ... sometimes people don't realize what information they're actually passing.

I don't know anyone outside the industry who knows a tenth of the information they're giving up.

It's convenient for direct deposit and paying bills online.
