Well, I think it's ironic the london olympics land on 2012.

ok...now look at the predictions of y2k..people thought our computers were gonna go bizerk and all this other babbling bullshit, we would live in total darkness...wellll...nothing happened, and didnt they day that haley's comet was going to hit the earth some time ago?i dont kow if i heard that in a movie, but i dont think thats true, i think i just made that up, ok. but for real...people talk about jesus and what not, but then again, how about the theories of evolution? theres proof, and now we have 20 ft. fungus' dating around 350 million years ago...dinosaur bones..proof of life beyond 2000 years ago, people say that dinosaurs might have been back in jesus' time, but if you look at it, how is that even possible? just something to think about, IMO...nothing will happen...but nonetheless, its always good to be prepared....

 

The Mayan Calendar actually ends on Dec. 12 2012, and ahahah I was just about to say what the guy above me said, in that saying this is all alot like y2k, the world was supposed to end then too

Let's say hypothetically there was something more to this place than what you wake up and see every morning. Lets say maybe a few fortunate people have knowledge of something more. Maybe even there is a never ending struggle to pass this information along but most people are so set in their ways to even listen let alone comprehend. 2012 marks the peak of "the separation". The separation of do you know? or not? 2012 is your last chance to make it out of the matrix. 2012, a massive campaign will be set in motion to wipe out the last of the mind soldiers. You need to do more research before you start saying maybe this and maybe that. The calendar was finished because in starts over. In 2012. The Mayans do not say the world will end in the way of every concious lifefore will just die. 2012 Marks a new "period in time" The Mayans were very accurate in predicting the future.

With the development of the place-notational Long Count calendar (believed to have been inherited from other Mesoamerican cultures), the Maya had an elegant system with which events could be recorded in a linear relationship to one another, and also with respect to the calendar ("linear time") itself. In theory, this system could readily be extended to delineate any length of time desired, by simply adding to the number of higher-order place markers used (and thereby generating an ever-increasing sequence of day-multiples, each day in the sequence uniquely identified by its Long Count number). In practice, most Maya Long Count inscriptions confine themselves to noting only the first 5 coefficients in this system (a b'ak'tun-count), since this was more than adequate to express any historical or current date (with an equivalent span of approximately 5125 solar years). However, and in common with other Mesoamerican societies, the repetition of the various calendric cycles, the natural cycles of observable phenomena, and the recurrence and renewal of death-rebirth imagery in their mythological traditions were important and pervasive influences upon Maya societies. This conceptual view, in which the "cyclical nature" of time is highlighted, was a pre-eminent one, and many rituals were concerned with the completion and re-occurrences of various cycles. As the particular calendaric configurations were once again repeated, so too were the "supernatural" influences with which they were associated. Thus it was held that particular calendar configurations had a specific "character" to them, which would influence events on days exhibiting that configuration. Divinations could then be made from the auguries associated with a certain configuration, since events taking place on some future date would be subject to the same influences as its corresponding previous cycle dates. Events and ceremonies would be timed to coincide with auspicious dates, and avoid inauspicious ones (Coe 1992, Miller and Taube 1993).

The completion of significant calendar cycles ("period endings"), such as a k'atun-cycle, were often marked by the erection and dedication of specific monuments such as twin-pyramid complexes such those in Tikal and Yaxha, but (mostly in stela inscriptions) commemorating the completion, accompanied by dedicatory ceremonies.

A cyclical interpretation is also noted in Maya creation accounts, in which the present world and the humans in it were preceded by other worlds (one to five others, depending on the tradition) which were fashioned in various forms by the gods, but subsequently destroyed. The present world also had a tenuous existence, requiring the supplication and offerings of periodic sacrifice to maintain the balance of continuing existence. Similar themes are found in the creation accounts of other Mesoamerican societies (Miller and Taube, 1993:68-71).



If you have a high enough understanding of mathematics you can calculate ANYTHING. You can calculate exactly what is going to happen 20,000 years from now if your math is good enough which the Mayans had a better understanding of math than 99.99 percent of the present day worlds population.

The Maya are still here today stronger than ever but most people are too shallow minded to realize how.

There are different cycles in the Maya calendar. Multiple smaller cycles join to make a larger single cycle. These larger single cycles join with other larger single cycles to form an even larger single cycle and so on and so forth.

So it's kind of like a 24hr. day is a cycle. Days form to make a week cycle. Weeks make months, months make years, years make decades, decades make centuries, millinea etc. etc. Well 2012 is the end of the cycle of all cycles. THE CYCLE. The cycle that all other cycles originate from.

Time will not end. It will reverse or start all over again. The main cycle will, cycle.

Problem is that most people won't notice a thing. Most ppl will say, "Ah ha! I told you the world would not end!" But what they don't know is on a spiritual extradimensional level the "world" did end for them. They don't see anything different because they are looking for 3dimensional things like fire and brimestone and earthquakes, locust swarms shit like that. It is so much more deeper than that though. Not even on the same page.

Don't expect the world to blow up in 2012. Expect your world to blow up.

 

most people seem to state that time passes quicker as they get older right?
you know, you're talking to your parents and you say "damn this school year went by quickly" and they reply with something quite like "the years get faster as you get older"

what if time really is going by faster, and faster each year, and it will continue to speed up until 2012 (well 2013 at the stroke of midnight) at which point time is moving too fast for the mind to comprehend and this cycle will start over?

if you ask one person if the day seemed longer than usual, most people seem to agree and say that 'yes, i did seem to take a longer time' maybe that's the skip in the current cycle trying to re-allign itself. something along those lines, hard for me to explain.

EDIT: kinda like a spinning top i guess, if it's not spun correctly there is a wabble and the wabble continues to grow during every rotation until it cannot support itself anymore and it stops spinning, except in reverse?

I once read the calendar ends at the 21st of december 2012, my birthday. but I don't really care wether the writer of that article in question was right about the exact date or revolutionary 32. I hope and think something good will happen, but i have no idea what it will be.
