I don't get what the issue is because if people would actually READ the terms of service, they would've known what they were in for as soon as they signed up for it.

    I agree with you 100%

People act like they are forced to put every single thing about themselves on fb...

yea facebook sucks. sometimes it feels like some of the people i know are so obsessed with facebook that it's wierd when i call them instead of messaging them on facebook. LOL.

if someone wants to get in contact with me, i would be perfectly happy to talk to them on the phone. i avoid facebook every chance i get.

what's even more annoying is people making assumptions about my charachter based on my wall posts.

    that was a good video.

Ok, to be fair...I get your premise but I'd say only a 1/3 use it in the way you describe...and I've seen more omg's/ftw etc here than on FB, btw.
    Oh and more btw's too.
FB does need to get rid of dead wood so bye ; )

Its not the same thing at all other than it is on the internet, and we have discussions, with a few pictures, some might be personal.

We have a couple hundred active members (don't quote me on that..) facebook has millions. Hipforums is not all over car comericals, foodnetworks, CBS, NBC, sports games, banking systems. None of that, which makes this place special and I believe that is one of the reasons so many of us keep coming back, and want to continue.

We get good news here, members as a whole are nice and respect each other. It is not a site for multi billion dollar corporations to make more money.

Facebook has become a new market for the rich, to advertise the product to make themselves more rich.

Just because you have two websites, both online, both viewed by people, both with stored information does not make them the same.

I meant same to say that they are both places where people come together.
Yes, FB is bigger and commercially successful.
But I still compare them because they are forums for people to meet. Even if you want to look at Facebook as being shallow, which I wouldn't knock you for, FB and HF are like different genres of the same basic function.

I use FB for the reasons most people seem to use it...THAT IS ALL OF MY FRIENDS MEANS OF COMMUNICATION! And it drives me nuts! I never post my personal business on there, though, like most people do. And I don't like it when big things happen in my life, then one person posts on my wall then EVERYONE posts on my wall about it...like when my dad passed away a few months ago...I did not want to deal with what I dealt with on facebook...I'm trying to make arrangements for my father and everyone finds it necessary to on my facebook-causing me to feel very overwhelmed every time I log into it...I've barely been on it since then.

i thought this thread subject was forbidden in the hf terms of service...

what does having fewer ways to spend your time have to do with freedom?

which drama is that? i've had an account since it was relatively new, and i've yet to experience any drama.

i have seen some drama taking place, but it was caused by people posting shit they should have never posted, and since i didn't get involved i didn't experience any drama.

Yeah what is this drama you people speak of. Facebook doesn't inherently create drama, having shitty friends do.
