The Declaration of Independence - 1776 It sounds to me like the founding fathers had some democratic ideals in mind. It's too bad government doesn't believe in "consent of the governed" anymore.
I don't think we have lost any of them. Examples?? I do agree the Safety Nazis are getting too much through. Economic freedom is true freedom. Yea they could do whatever they want but oh thats right got to go toil in the feilds for 18 hours a day to try and survive. Yea don't get into the meat of an arguement, lets let everyone just take your word for it. I don't think America is perfect. There is much here that needs to be worked on. Religious powers decreased, victomless crimes need to be legalized, etc. You are right though I do feel that "America's the greatest country on earth", but that doesn't mean I agree with every decision made. Then again when blending so many cultures and ideas it not always going to go your way right.
America doesn't have economic freedom. Have you tried to start a business lately? Most people that try are prohibited from doing it.
