I think eastern (byzantine) liturgies are very beautiful The symbolism found within the Eastern Churches runs quite deep, probably deeper than in the western churches. I probably would have joined an eastern rite catholic church, but one of the reasons I did not is because it was just easier to join the latin church for my up-coming wedding. It isn't the only reason I decided Roman catholic, but it was one factor.

Actually I think you are the one missing the point. Christians should base their beliefs on the Bible and what Jesus said, not on what St. Augustine said.

As for traditional Christian belief, Jesus had much to say about religious traditions and none of it favorable.

Just because the majority of Christians believe something does not make it true, the majority of the Jews of Jesus day did not believe he was the Messiah but he was!

As for Jesus being God, please show me in the Bible where Jesus came right out and said "I am God", till then I’ll believe what Jesus said when he said; “I am the Son of God”.

 

Christ or messiah basically means Anointed One or the Chosen One. There are others mentioned in the Bible as being anointed or chosen by God such as Moses who was to foreshadow Jesus as The Christ. So yes, we all could be christs. But Jesus was The Christ and the job he was chosen to do; only he could do. So in that sense there can only be one The Christ and so no, we can not be The Christ. That job is already taken!
