What about this....since weed has been theorized to contain components that both potentiate the chances of getting cancer and also also components that kill cancer cells, then maybe it cancels itself out and just has no effect on the likelyhood of getting cancer, at all. And I think it is proof enough that hundreds of potheads that had been smoking for decades were shown to have no increased chances of getting cancer, even when compared to people who had never smoked anything in their lives. They were also compared to people who smoked only cigs and also compared to people who smoked both cigs and weed; The part I like is that the people who smoke weed AND cigs were proven to be at less risk than the people who smoke just cigs:spliff:
Well, that's hard to believe man. Where did you read that? It's quite logic smoking weed is bad for your lungs, I just accept that. I don't have any clue about weed and cancer though.
An article was published on some news website about the study, and there was some pretty interesting statistics. I wouldn't say the shit just to be saying it. It may be true and it may not be true but, like I said, there was some very convincing/interesting statistics. I choose to believe it, because I find it impossible that one of the things I love most in the world would kill me, or even hasten my death. Maybe I'm just in denial, but I doubt it. Either way, High 'Til I Die, Smoke 'Til I Croak, as the saying goes I would find the article for you, but I have been awake for 24 hours and I need some sleep. I will probably post some more before I go to sleep, but I don't have the attention span or the energy to find the article. I am sure someone else knows of the article I am talking about, as it has been posted on here more than a few times. A blunt a day keeps the doctor away
quote from my health teacher "it takes smoking regularly for five days in a row to get addicted to nicotine" so in theory, unless you are mixing your weed/hash with tobacco regularly, you should be fine oh, except for this nasty little thing called lung cancer, which you can increase your risk of anytime you smoke tobacco. Sorry to all cig smokers, but a few of my close friends are dying because they smoked cigs.
I sorta think that some ex potheads just wanted to smoke something because maybe it was impossible for them for some crazy reason and started smoking tobacci! I can't get addicted to cigs for real just because it hurts my throat after awhile and the smell of it for too long drives me nuts but yes, I've smoked more ciggi's then I did before weed.
ive never taken a hit of a cigarette i have smoked a cigar though before and i smoke weed pretty much every day
actually to tell the truth when im offered bud i always say yes but when im offered a cigarete i say no, everyone thinks i dont make any sense but i know its a smart choice
I'm fairly sure any kind of smoke in the lungs can't be good for you and will darken them in the long run, leading to disease. Back on topic, my first ever smoke was a spliff. A friend found a bar of good hash (*this was going back 5 years ago when the hash WAS quality*) still wrapped up in the alley between his house and his neighbours'. Apparently his neighbour's wife chucked him out and all his stuff. My friend found this bar and 3-4 of us spent the 6 weeks of Summer holidays getting blazed. We were all new to it, and the excitement was intense. What are the chances of that happening to a bunch of guys that wanted to experience Weed, but didn't know where to start? Well, it was probably the best Summer ever, the only mistake was gettin blazed on a school roof, then having to jump off (coz I couldn't climb it in the state I was in). It was through this smoking period that I tried cigarettes and I've been a smoker ever since.
this is the article that topnotch is speaking of(and cuey referenced) : http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle-old/437/tashkinstudy.shtml It speaks of how people that smoked up to 22,000 joints were found to have no increased risk of lung cancer. Also, this is just one study, and there are many contradictory studies out there. With that said, we could really find out the truth if it were legal and scientists could perform many many repeated studies and experiments on it. This is what sucks about it. The users don't get to know something about the substance based on its legality. Also, I'm not addicted to nicotine, or have cravings, but I sure do like djarums. I have to keep myself away from them because I like them a lot. Not a fan of pipe tobacco or any other form other than those specific cigs though. If someone passes anything else I'll just say no. Only djarums.
