With all the hoopla about a new Sign what if we’re all wrong about Astrology. What if the “Traits” we get are not from the planets but from an organized Creator who wanted us to be able to know each other so he set up our Solar System as a way for us to “learn” the patterns of how we have different Traits. I’ve always found it far-fetched that the planets themselves could somehow imprint the Sign Traits into us at our moment of birth. I believe God does the imprinting and our ancestors envisioned “astrology” based on the repeating patterns that they saw in their fellow man and as time went on they expanded it and what we have today is the result – minus the 13th Sign of course. Just some food for thought.
At some point I decided that it was a better idea to tell a different sign than revealing my true star sign and appear boastful. I now know that no one sign is better than another. But I'd still rather not say my sign on this board.
Again that doesn't make sense... How do zodiac signs work, maybe i am an idiot... If there is a "new" constellation and there is a new zodiac sign then it has always been there. It didn't just pop-up the day before they wrote the article. So if it has been there for ever, or a really long time, then wouldn't the change then be applied to previous years or as long as the constellation has been in existence... It's doesn't matter when we except that it's there, what matters is how long it has actually been there.. does this make sense to anyone else??!!..
It's all about what constellations are visible from Earth when you're born. This one was not visible when the traditional Zodiac signs were compiled; but because of the changing angle of the Earth's rotation, now we can see it. For people born already, it doesn't matter: what was visible is what was visible.
Ophiucus was absolutely visible - or at least the stars consisting the constellation were. The constellations themselves changed from time to time. It was mentioned by Ptolemy in Tetrabiblos book 1 ch. 9. Not only that, how does the Earth's angle even supposed to make a constellation appear and disappear, when the layout of the stars (from our vantage point and perception) don't move? The Earth has a wobble which changes the way the foreground of the planets are placed against the background of the stars. Constellations don't suddenly appear and disappear. Look, Ophiucus has been around as a constellation for a long time. There are few things about this: The constellations now are slightly different than the ancients saw them. This is because astronomers have changed a few of them. Not drastic changes in most cases, but changes nonetheless. The signs and constellations are not the same thing. The signs are 30 degree divisions of the ecliptic. They never completely lined up. Even when the Sun during the spring equinox was in Aries instead of Pisces. Some constellations are smaller than 30 degrees, some are larger. Some overlap. Even if you use sidereal signs which take precession into account, the constellations and signs don't exactly line up. For instance, Scorpio is something like 15 degrees wide. I think it's smaller than that actually. So, even in sidereal astrology, if a planet is in 20 degrees Scorpio in a sidereal sign, it actually isn't in the Scorpio constellation at all. Let me repeat: the signs and the constellations are not the same. Never have been at since the signs have been laid out. Babylonian astrology doesn't exactly count, since they did very little horoscopic astrology - at least not until very late, about 5th century BCE. This is why I say anyone who thinks Ophiucus is a new sign and we have 13 signs now know nothing about astrology.
^thank you. read more : http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Ophiuchus What's the eliptical? read more : http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Ecliptic At least 1930. not 2009. I just wonder why western astrologers chose to not include it?
I was a Libra, but now I'm a Virgo. NOT happy. I liked to be the symbol of balance not... virginity...
Don't worry: they're just metaphors and abstractions of old religious and metaphysical beliefs. It doesn't mean you're a virgin :mickey:
Well if the signs changed, I'm now a Sagittarius. Maybe that's why it seems like my moods and emotions are different.
Indeed it is! Astrologists are gullible little shits with room temperature IQ (in Celsius) *Rips a loud fart before leaving this thread and slamming the door
The Zodiac Sign Change only applies to people born within the last year while my sign changed according to scientist I am now and will always be a Pisces not an Aquarius. My personality fits the Pisces. I don't care what so scientist says but that is just my option.
