Hmmm.... I just thought she was cynical about everything, as I've been accused of myself. Actually Otter and I have agreed and disagreed on many issues, and I'm actually one of the people here who likes her presence on these forums so that wasn't meant to be a slight, guess I should have used the smiley system. ;)

But I don't automatically align myself with the left because they are "liberal", just to clear this up. I choose issues and decide how I feel about each one. I thought, perhaps falsely, that is how most people are. I mean I can't say that I believe in every single thing that the Green Party or "liberals" believe in because we are all people and we are all different. For the most part though, my thinking is liberal leaning. I too am moderate on issues and it is possible I could be considered conservative on an issue (though I can't think of one off of the top of my head). In general, the issues I'm liberal thinking on outweigh the ones that I'm not, so I consider myself liberal.

i didn't think you were slighting her. sometimes eloquence fails me. and i didn't intend to accuse you of being one of those automatic liberals. i just can't stand people who agree with the right or left on a couple issues, and figure, since they agree with those issues, they may as well go along with the rest of them. makes me crazy. i'm surrounded on all sides by the sort, all republicans, too.

    Thanks there KC. :)

And Cutelildeadbear, naturally I wasnt offended. who could be mad at you?? :p

Yes I am one of the obnoxious middle-road moderates.

    Pro-choice
    Pro-gay
    Anti-gun control
    Pro-death penalty(mainly for child rapist/murderers and hate-murderers and Scott Peterson..the bastard)
Pro-pot legalization.(I think it's stupid that pot is illegal but more potent and dangerous drugs are legal. more people die by alcohol then they do by pot)
    Pro-hunting
    Pro-global warming(I dont think it's a myth)
    Anti-Iraqi war
Anti-Bush(though I dont care much for Kerry either)
    Anti-NAFTA/WTO
    Pro-UN
    Pro-animal welfare but anti-animal rights.

that's just the jist of what I am. I am more concerned about individual issues then I am about party or partisan platforms. I will not allow my beliefs to be boxed in like that.

I as well. But I'm still liberal. ;)

KC I completely understand what you are saying. My boyfriend's parents are exactly like that. They call themselves liberal, and I'm wondering why exactly they consider themselves so liberal when to me they seem like republicans who happen to be poor.

Historically, Demoracts are the party of the racists.

Lincoln was the first Republican president.

Ahhh yes my mom is just brainwashed by the church, but she has never once thought about anything on her own. then again she is slow, so I don't know if she could figure things out without having someone tell her.

my in-laws are like that. it's kinda funny to watch their eyes glaze over if i wanna talk politics, even with my meager knowledge and grasp of the subject, it still goes over their heads.

my inlaws are the ones who got me so interested in politics to begin with... then i stumbled upon this lovely group here, who sometimes i believe just like to argue. heheheh. problem with my inlaws though, is their answer to everything is "i know more than you because i've lived longer" god that drives me up a freakin wall. but every sunday that we are at their house, we have breakfast and watch all of the political programs then argue, then hug and go home. :)

my husband is pretty politically inclined. my family was, too, but there was no expressing an opinion different that the parentals or else your ass was gonna get beat and kicked out. i like when people can disagree without flaming each other or just being asses about it.
