I really feel for you. :( I only have two slipped discs in my lower back, so I cannot imagine having more.. but I also have arthritis in my ankle and wrist and have had to have surgeries on both. I have lupus which causes joint pain everywhere and to make a long story short I'm pretty much a mess, lol.

I take 7.5 lortabs throughout the day to control my pain along with a fentanyl patch. I'm not going to lie, I have days where my pain is still so bad that I think to myself "a normal person would be running to the ER."

I think I, like the OP, have an extremely high tolerance. Whenever I'm in the ER for my other problem (longer story) I get a shot of morphine and sometimes even dilaudid through an IV, and I remember the way it used to feel.. and now it's hardly anything.

Anyway.. just wanted to let you know I know what it's like to hurt all the time. I especially know what it's like to know you have your life in front of you and wonder what the hell your gonna do... And wondering how scary it's going to be coming off of this shit, that's a whole other story in itself!

Good luck man! And ohh yeah.. I do smoke to take the edge off. My family actually helps me with that. lol, it's crazy, they were so straight up, but they saw their daughter get so ill and they pretty much turned to whatever they could to make me feel better.. really sweet. The times I smoke are the best because I really don't hurt so bad. It's amazing.. I really hope you are able to find some in your area!

Even if you chew the morphine it wont be released any faster, all that wax binder really fucks up any effectiveness the morphine would have and not to mention the ba is so god dam low with every roa other than iv. And id rather have have vicodin than dilaudid or morphine anyday if they arent iv form

Yeah go see your doc and tell him your Med combo is no longer effective. He will find you an alternative combo, that is his job. Whenever you are on an Opiate painkiller for an extended amount of time, it is going to lose some of its, if not all of its effectiveness.

Like some of the others have suggested, smoke some reefer on top of it too. I smoke weed with my Methadone everyday. I feel about 100 times better than just from the Methadone alone. I bet you will get a new set of Meds from your Doc and all will be well.
    Best of luck!!

Ask your doctor to write you a script for Fentanyl patches or lollipops. Fentanyl is the strongest synthetic opiate on the planet, I think its something like 1,000 times more powerful than morphine (yes , a thousand, not a typo!). Fentanyl will definatly have you doing jumping jacks!

I have a similar problem. I have degenerative disc disease, and had an accident at work back in 2000 that accordioned 4 discs. I had a spinal fusion involving 4 discs, and it didn't work. I've been taking Vicoden since '03. I'm now on the 10/500 dosage. It doesn't kill all the pain, but makes life more manageable. If you're on Dilaudid and Morphine both, that's pretty much as high as they'll give you. Like some others have said, Fentanyl patches might help. That is an extremely potent drug. Or maybe even a Morphine pump. At some point you might want to consider tapering off to reduce your tolerance, then starting back. You should also see a pain specialist.

I wish things were like that, as well. Chances are you may live in a state where you can! Find out!

Chewing the tablets is gross, if you do that... may as well crush the pill up and put in a square of paper and parachute it.

Hydrocodone is nothing compared to hydromorphone. Plus you can shootup hydromorphone and its on par with heroin.

Yeah, i agree with Consumer there... OC is a lot more enjoyable buz/painkiller than Morphine, morph is almost a speedy type of high.... But i'm a feind I always plug my narcotics. Even Xanax. Seems to make them kick in Alot Faster/work alot longer But in the long run all you will be is more addicted.... I suggest you shoot for Rapid release or Chew your morphines up.. haha j/k... but morphine is pretty brutal my mom takes 3 60mg a day along with 10 or so V's 10mg. Goodluck to you!

Hi sorry to hear of your problem. I think I have your answer. I too suffer from pain and current roll on : 150mg morphine and 8 mg dilaudid a day. Your problem is that once you get close to 200 mg of morphine the releif effects are adverse. What I mean is that you will actually be in more pain. It's a weird effect of morphine. Try to cut back to 150mg or less of morphine. Your doctor should know this. If you don't already you should be managed by a pain clinic. Btw, DO NOT CHEW YOUR MORPHINE.. you will release all the meds at once and O.D!! Good luck. Chewing only works for fast acting drugs like dilaudid etc. Do not chew extended release medication
