Well, I see it as a mutually benefitting thing. The younger party may gain some very useful knowledge by interacting with the older party, and the older party in return regains their mental(and sometimes physical too, I suppose) youth.

Doesn't always have to be asociated with bad things at all.

Yes, that is all that matters in any relationship.
My relationship with Rider has LOL nothing to do with being her Daddy either. I have three kids and she also has a great Dad who she has always had a very good relationship with over the years.

We were just talking about this thread today and noticed that most of our fellow Americans are the ones who have ISSUES over our age difference.

 

I know what you mean totally... But I won't get into it further because I don't want to cause havoc, lol.

But hey, American as people aren't so much the real problem here, it's the US government's/society's way of screwing around with its people's heads...is the way I see it.

to be totally honest here, I think its sick....... most of these relationships between a 50-60 year old man and an 18-25 year old woman only satisfies two needs..... the girl needs a daddy in her life which she never had, and the man just wants something to keep him young and vigor, especially in the sack. thats it. if there is anything else beyond that part of the relationship, I would be surprised.

 

both of these needs are often sought after in relationships where both people are of the same age

there's something about older men, with wisdom from age and experience, that's very sexy.

for instance, off the top of my mind, i find patrick stewart, gandaf, elrond (i just watched some lotr movies), and dumbledore (harry potter character) to be very sexy. two of them could be my granfather.

however, there are more creepy older men who allow themselves to date far younger girls than... non-creepy... ones. still...







but i also think treebeard is hot.

hehe, well that 2nd line wasnt really directed to you, moreso that people went out of their way to tell these two what problems they have with their relationship.

for those of you who do find this disgusting, what do you think is an appropriate age range for love? if you completely hit it off with someone your mothers age, and you found incredibly attractive, would you not go for it? if you were the older of the two, and you really hit it off with someone much younger, would you not go for it?

 

You guys are all making this out to be about wizarddrew... Mainly because he threw himself in the mix of it. I stated an opinion. I didn't state his name, make any reference to him, or directly put him down in any form.

For those of you who have badgered and belittled me for my opinion on this matter: you are all no better than I am. Did I ever say anything about him or rider? No. He took my opinion personally and chose to make a crack at me because he wasn't happy about it. Yes, my thread about the amish stooping to those levels was a direct attack at him. However, that thread was in retaliation to a direct sting he made at me. Was I right in my second thread, that I based off of his threads so that people knew it was directed at him? No. Was I completely and utterly entitled to my opinion as stated in the opening post of this thread. Yes. Do I stand by my opinion as it's something I believe in? Yes.

Why am I the point of criticism here when, as far as this very thread is concerned, I have not said anything derogatory to himabout his situation? You should all take a step back and look at yourselves, to be judged, as you have judged me. While you can say the same thing to and about me, there is a difference. I would not do the deed in which I have stated I do not care for. Meanwhile, those who criticize me are doing exactly what they criticize me for doing. They are putting somebody down for the way they feel.

I don't think I could date anyone over 30 right now. We'd be in far too different places. I think that madcrappie had a valid point in that the majority of relationships with a large age difference and the girl is the younger, it's primarily to fulfill a need for a daddy and a sexual need. Doesn't mean that this one is necessarily this way, but the majority of relationships with big age gaps and the chick being younger are like that and it causes some major major problems


I find it interesting that you would take your friends leaving you as a sign of your love and faith, instead of as a potential warning sign. That you would blame society for giving you as a couple odd looks instead of questioning, at least briefly, if there's a reason for that, if perhaps the majority (and again, not necessarily yours) of relationships like that stem from major psychological issues, not from true love and respect.

rider has always been mean to me and i dont know why or care.

drew and i also had issues with each other but we worked them out thru pm's.
