Then I guess that's where the discipline comes in! :p

Once you actually get off your arse and start something, it gets easier to do. If you're enjoying something, you're more likely to continue doing it (masturbation was not on my mind!) and it also gives you purpose. I've always had a problem with the idea of starting a class but whenever I have physically experienced it my motivation changes.

Not to be too patronizing, but given your age you will probably grow out of the binge drinking, especially if already you're not happy with it. When you want to change things about yourself, the first step is to recognise what you want to change and if you really really want that change, I think eventually you'll make it. :)

well lets look at this the other way then, you're 21 and you have a few blow out nights, it's not exactly unusual really.

maybe the first step towards the discipline you want to achieve is in cutting down on the amount of blow out nights you have or arrange to do something different instead. 'Something different' doesn't have to be drink free either, I've had many brilliant nights just staying in with a few friends round chatting crap and drinking a few beers in place of going out to the pub, just means that you're controlling yourself until you feel ready to deal with a full on situation without having to become a social leper. That's how I overcame any addictive personality based problems, to start with anyway, after you've mastered that you need to move on with your life as well but it's as good a starting place as any.

Cheers for all the advice folks, I just think that the fact that I drank myself into oblivion most of last weekend scared me a bit. Was playing a gig last night and had a few pints but paced myself and was much more concious than usual about how much I was drinking and how fast. EarthWhirler you're probably right about the Martial Arts, if I got going at it the laziness would probably pass.

Okay, maybe it's not full blown Martial Arts but today I signed up for a tai-chi class starting on November 2nd,so I'll have tai-chi on a tuesday and my Spanish nightclass on a wednesday. It's feels great to be doing something positive with my life. I know that sounds like I was a degenerate loser before hand which I wasn't but I haven't done anything apart from work all week and drink all weekend for ages now so it's nice to be doing something different. A change is as good as a rest as they say!

We never judged you for a second! *whistles*

Seriously, T'ai Chi is brilliant, I love watching the movement and the motion, never done it myself but did do Chi gung (or Qui Gong) for a while, which is the basis for a lot of soft martial arts with the breathing 'an all. Hope you enjoy it!

Best file them away so you can whip them out when you have self-esteem issues Monkey! :p

I'll keep a copy taped to the inside of my eyelids then!
