It's decent of you to recognize the value of a Pence presidency in realistic terms. Too often I've heard about how he's so over-the-top, Chik Fil-A Christian that America would be turned into Gilead and handmaids would be traded around like livestock. If he has to finish for Trump and become Ford 2, the country will probably just coast a bit while Pence tries to beg for a second term he knows he'll never see. Trump probably has a long list of dead man's switch events planned for the day the cell door closes, he's a billionaire after all.
Perhaps all this trump business will be good for the country after all. Many of us oldsters had no idea that our democracy could be so fragile and so in danger of being forever altered, as has been and IS being shown daily. There aren't many excuses for the actions of republicans regarding their obfuscatory, dishonest blabbering and their fealty to an obviously unfit human to head this country or much of anything. The lessons of this huge mistake will hopefully bring out the best in whomever is left standing when the dust settles and country over party will produce some real candidates--probably much younger and idealistic, than the old worn out, self serving relics that continue to hold the reins of power. It appears that nothing--absolutely nothing ,, will change the minds of those that see this little man as beneficent and somehow god ordained to be the leader of this nation. Something good has to come from this--or this country is fucked for sure. I had hoped that GW Bush would be elected just to show who republicans were, what they would do, how they operated and ---lessons learned---or so I thought. Lo and behold--this mess is so much worse than prior republican presidents, that Nixon, Bush and Hoover look pretty good in comparison. If this doesn't make people get out and vote to restore some semblance of normality--as rigged as much of our government is against the masses of working people--we're going down the tubes!
If Trump is removed from office Pence would server out Trump's term, not five years. I understand what you're saying, somewhat, the only problem is the future is in inexorably tied to the present. In fact the future never arrives at all.
My fear is that if Trump is removed it will be seen by republicans as an attack on them and they will rally to make sure Pence wins 2020. I don't think any of it is going to happen tho. McConnell and Graham already said they will not remove Trump from office, no matter what the evidence is.
Exactly. Trump could shoot Representative Schiff in the middle of the Oval Office and the republics would say he deserved it. As I've said before the Republicans are the greatest enemy to the country at this time.
Are you being sarcastic? He has the personality of a televangelist, and might as well have phony tattooed on his forehead. The slickness could make him more dangerous. Besides, Trump won't be removed from office, so no need to worry.
Yeah. Pence might be a return to normalcy but it will be a return to 2004 Bush-era normalcy when conservative evangelists ruled the country No thanks
McConnell, and Graham don't have a say if by chance trump is impeached, and found guilty. It's improbable, but not out of the realm of possibility. Jeff Flake, the fmr Arizona senator, said he knows of thirty republican senators who could vote to impeach. Admittedly, that's a stretch. I will be curious to see which way Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins*, and Mitt Romney vote. *Collins is in for a tough primary. Her vote for Kavanaugh was not popular.
No I agree, but my point is that if trump were removed, somehow, I think Pence would be reticent to push his agenda. IMO, Pence doesn't want to add to the divisiveness that is this country, today. In retrospect, I bet pence regrets signing on with trump.
Ya know, that's a really valid point. I guess when the boat is rocking so much it's about to capsize, rocking it more isn't in your best interest. However, if he doesn't push his agenda, he might lose votes in 2020. Not that it matters. Like I said, the senate won't convict. I keep hearing how "no one is above the law, not even the president" and Mueller goes on tv and says he can't indict a sitting president, then prominent republican senators say they won't convict the president no matter what the evidence says. Pretty sure during an interview Lindsay Graham said he wouldn't even look at the evidence. Sure sounds like he's above the law to me.
Donald Duck is a conservative evangelical, in the long tradition of tent revivals, televangelists, and PT Barnum. The early Greek philosophers were often comedians too. Spouting nonsense was the only way many of them could covertly criticize their own corrupt institutions, and they killed Socrates for being a little too good at it. Honesty is only a lonely word, when everyone charges by the syllable, while academics debate the meaning of who is a lawyer, like Giuliani.
You know, if non whites actually voted in South Carolina, he might be out of a job. There are approximately 250k registered white voters, and 1 million non white registered voters. If the non white voters voted. . . . . .
This isnt accurate... South Carolina Voter Registration Demographics There are 2.3 million white registered voters. Nonwhite voters do vote, that's why SC is an important early Democratic primary state
I'm in SC so it didnt sound right to me, white people are always crowding up the polls on election day lol But the numbers blurred together for me too, I had to put my face right to the screen to double check it lol so I figured that's what happened
Tokyo alone has 33 million people in one city. NYC is 9 million, while 2 million is an average city in the US. Size is pretty much related to wherever sheltered ports with access to lots of fresh water exist, and SC is too battered by storms and has too much competition. NYC's big advantage has been the granite bedrock 18ft down, which is ideal for building. Among other things, they are drilling tunnels through it to bring more water into the city.
